Issue installing Galletto 1260 Cable - Driver not found
Good Afternoon,
Trying to flash my E55 back to stock for smog, so I dug up the old cable given to me when I bought the car. I'd successfully used it before on my older Win10 machine, but I've since moved to a new laptop. Whenever I plug the cable in it's being identified as a random "FingerPrint" device and won't accept any of the Galletto drivers, just shows as doesn't contain any info for the device. I originally tried it in my Win11 environment but then moved to my STAR XP virtual machine thinking it was just an OS issue. Nope, same thing. I've dug through very cryptic posts about the 1260, but can't seem to find anything of substance. Absolutely no other drivers I've found work. I'm pointing to the proper directory where the driver should be found, and have copied pretty much every file into that directory as well to no avail.
Any advice? Is this the ONLY way to flash ECUs these days?

We offer flashing to stock as a service at our Santa Ana location. Please call us to schedule an appointment.
$5 Chinese clone tools are notorious for partial programming and bricking ECUs.....
Yet another reason to dislike California. They are getting more and more crazy out there with this stuff while their fires produce an unbelievable amount of pollution. But no mention of that LOL
I'm not sure how far back their database goes. They cannot have a list of ALL OEM tunes for all cars in California. I recently smogged a car (not an MB) that I had reflashed myself and it passed. It was a non-mainstream manufacturer, so that probably helped.
No, I flashed it with non-stock settings. That manufacturer must not have submitted all of the stock tune info to the state for them to compare checksums with.
I want to know who the hell is checking this ? There are that many "tuned" cars on the road that this was something that the state had to address? On top of that it's really when under boost the tune will actually have any effect on anything so who cares.

Just venting....
I hear ya. This started with the diesel crowd and their "rolling coal" tunes. CARB (California Air Resources Board) has been aggressively going after flash tuner companies. Just this year they started check tunes in cars during smog checks and failing people that do not have a tune with an E.O. number.
