The new CAR mag...
Just perused the new CAR magazine...
1. They really got into the M5 as being a technological tour de force...leaving
E55 and RS6 feeling long in the tooth as far as advances in engine,
steering, and suspension design and execution.
2. They felt that the new M5 had no peer at it's price point w/ regard to the
performance, mechanical design, practicality.
3. They probably had 1-2 paragraphs on its styling (I couldn't gauge their
actual like/dislike of the exterior design, probably since so much has
already been said about the bangle effect on the 5 series they figured
nuff said)...my opinion (love the front, like the rear, hate the side profile
(rear bangle boot is most noticable in this profile...so get it in black or dark
blue). Interior is less pleasing to the eye vs. E55 interior (my .02),but it
seems ergonomically sound.
4. They trashed the styling of the CLS500...indicating that US are more likely
to take to its styling than our european counterparts. I think they said
that the "...best advertisement for a BMW 6-series was looking at the
CLS..."
5. The new Ferrari 430 is gorgeous...performance...blistering!!!!!
If I could afford a third car, I probably would get a new M5 (black or blue color) for a change of pace...the M package has helped the Bangle design be palatable...I can't wait to see what MB does to respond to the M5
