Steering Vibration
I've been having a vibration coming from the driver's left wheel for some time now. I thought that it might be the wheel bearings, but when we changed out the entire suspension last year to include wheel bearings, that didn't eliminate what I feel through the steering wheel.
Then I checked all four wheels for bends, and discovered two were actually bent, so we had those straightened and rebalanced, problem still exists. Then I thought it might be the brakes, because I feel it when applying the brakes also. Well, we quickly eliminated that theory. So, we are gradually eliminating possible culprits one by one.
So, now we come to the tires, and discovered that the fronts are four years old, and have some wear on the inside shoulder. We have 6/32 on the outside edge and the center. I thought that they might be flat spotted, but during the heat of the summer, the problem was still there. So finally, I decided to buy two brand new Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus.
And oh boy did that fix the issue, no vibration whatsoever, accelerates up to 100 mph straight as an arrow, this car feels brand new again and is a pleasure to drive again. It actually rides as smooth as my X5M. I should have done this a long time ago. Instead on living with the issue.

I've been running the same tires on both of my E55s since I bought each one (January 2014 for the W210 and August 2014 for the W211). Great tires for my purposes. Good to hear the tires did the trick.

Yes, that vibration had my OCD going crazy, slow process of elimination. Just glad that the old tires were the issue.

I thought that it was the wheel bearings the whole time, so after we did a complete suspension refresh last year, to include wheel bearings the issue was still present.
Who would have thought that it was 4-year-old tires the entire time. I just think that the tires were severely flat spotted. As we didn't see anything obviously when the tires were removed.

Might also that another tyre brand/model would not show this behaviour, who knows? But glad the issue has been solved, and a suspension refresh is never a bad thing anyway haha

After 15 yrs. my suspension was showing its age. Honestly, this was probably the best thing I could have ever done for the car. I know now that the suspension is good for another 15 years.
