In the past 2 decades (early 80's to now), what MB model(s) do you think will past the test of time and be considered a "classic" (a la MB 300SL gullwing)

Do you think that the E55 or any of the AMG models will be considered at the level of a "classic" model?

What were MB duds?

My personal opinion is that the E55 won't be in that class, but the SL55 may be the AMG that has the closest chance for consideration as a classic...

 

I know im going to get flamed. The SLR will be a timeless classic, as will the SL and CL.

 

I don't see a reason to flame you, but I tend to agree.

 

I think the E500, the one by Porsche will be a classic. Its very rare and its has quite a history. Other than that, I don't know if any of the newer MBs would be a future classic as they are all plastic and very very much mass produced.

But its a safe bet that the old classic car saying "if the top goes down, the price goes up" will apply. I'm thinking CLK cab.
