I have just switched from BMW (30 years) to MBZ. I love my new E55 but after searching this forum, I see that surfing my presets on the radio is no longer possible from the steering wheel. I just can't believe that this very expensive car will not allow me to select my preset radio stations from the steering wheel as my (much less expensive) BMW's did. What can be done about this? It's outrageous that this convenience has been taken away. Is there a software patch to correct this...Steve? I would appreciate any bottom line information on this subject.

I agree....My C32 allowed an option to scan or use the preset stations....and I can not believe that the E55 doesn't offer that option!

 

You bring up a complaint I have with my C55 but now reading what SweC32 said, I'm wondering if my C55 has an option that will allow me to scan my presets from the steering wheel?

Anyone know? If so, how do I set it up? Or refer me to the manual page.

It is under settings......Look in your manual....Hopefully, the C55 is like the C32 and you can set it to use the presets.

nope...it isn't...when MB switched from audio manufacturer with thw W211 and whatever model(update) followed, the preset audio search is gone...which is most probably a temporary software problem as all MB models still have this feature available which can be activated with the help of stardiagnose BUT WITHOUT ANY USE as even then, the audio search will continue to be per frequency.
The only way to get around this problem is by continuing driving an older MB or a non MB...sad but true...
