Finally received my 2003 E55 yesterday and I'm loving it. Have lots of things I need to fix on it, but it's a 120k mile clean title car and I got it for $8500. The guy even included 4 brand new coilovers in case I decide to ditch the airmatic, which I don't want to.
Anyways, I'm going through the car and seeing what isn’t working. I noticed the backlighting on my gauges isn't on (needles are lit and message center works), and the blower motor don't come on, even at max. Almost feels like a faint amount of air is coming out, but barley. I saw a post in here where someone said it might be related, but never replied with anything. Has anyone experienced these two, and could they be related? Could it be the day/night sensor on the dash? Or wherever it is. Thank you. I threw in some pics of the car.
So I did a battery ground disconnect and let it sit about 1 minute, still nothing. But right now after coming back 40 minutes later I decided to try the original key. I had a new key made today by a locksmith. And I remember the hvac working yesterday when I received the car and only had the original key. So I threw the og key in and the blower worked normal. Then i tried the new key and it also worked. Although the backlighting on the cluster is still out. Weird.

I just went through the blower motor issue with my car. I replaced the resistor/controller for the fan as the fan itself had been replaced a few years ago. That got it working for a while. I ultimately ended up replacing the fan as well. It had a bad bearing and would barely turn even on high. I purchased the parts from FCP Euro. Try to get the Behr part for the fan. The cheap Chinese knockoffs are of pretty low quality. I did use a Chinese resistor as the OEM one was crazy expensive. I paid about $50 for it. If it fails, I'll buy the OEM one.
