I recently bought replacement OEM Upper Trim panels, as the original rubber has deteriorated to the point of falling off. I read in a few posts that the rivets should be replaced too, but Benz no longer makes them (part # 000-991-69-40). When they were available, they were like three bucks each.
Now, FleaBay sellers are asking upwards of $17.00/each, which is completely unreasonable. I need eight, and there's no way in hell I'm spending $150 with shipping for plastic rivets. I did see other part numbers which are close, so I think I'm gonna try these cheap Chinese rivets which claim to fit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/323185694989
Anyone have a similar experience trying to locate the correct part, and how did you handle it? I suspect we'll all be seeing similar issues going forward on a 20 year old platform.
