I'd vote for Renntech because they are local, Hartmut's a nice guy that knows his stuff, and I trust them. I think with a tuner the bottomline would be having trust in the shop, especially if you are meddling with an $80k+ car.

If I had a w211 I'd put a Kleemann S2 on it as soon as I took delivery. The MB dealer in Seattle is an authorized Kleemann dealer so this means it's a factory-authorized aftermarket upgrade. I suspect there are many other MB dealers throughout the US that are Kleemann dealers.

I'm kinda surprised that with all the recent heat-soak discussions here people are still forging ahead with ECU/pulley's I'm wondering if a better "bang for the buck" would be an LSD and wait for one of these tuners to come up with some kind of solution for the heat problem. I did the Renntech ECU/pulley but had I known then what I know now I would have waited. I would have done the AMG LSD and waited to address the heat issue when available.

It is a proven fact that heat causes a loss in hp, but would you rather loose it off of a modified 590hp K2 or 480hp stock? The bigger the starting point the better. I think the LSD is terrific, but it is not going to give you the same feeling of pulling the g’s like 100 extra horses. You will definitely have more control stock or mod off the line with the LSD.

I actually talked to them before I had my Kleemann headers and ECU put in. The headers, even with the sport cats, are not carb legal in WA state so MB of "seattle" (aka lynnwood) would not order/install them for me.
