I hate to be so blunt,

But buying the New M5 is like dating a ugly chick who is good in bed.

You love her when your alone with her, but who in the hell wants to be seen with her in Public????

I have been looking at the new 5 shape since the first spy photo's came out and STILL haven't warmed up to the shape. For me and many other people, that's never going to change.

And the M5...., you can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end, it's still a pig.
And whats up with the "Kabookee" headlights? Asian influence way over done.

I don't think I am trying to convince anyone here that M5 will demolish E55. People just need to relax.

1. I can careless about my appearance. I already accept the fact that I will always be a over weight pig. And proud to accept that. hehe. Fatboy, donut boy, i can careless. It's the truth.

2. I saw CLS in person on sunday at SF autoshow. You all have to see it in person. This is a very good intepretation of whale by mercedes. If you think M5 is ugly, try look at CLS. THAT IS UGLY. Take that back, ugly is actually too good looking for CLS. My wife and my mother all hated the exterior. Yikes.

My mom was going to order a CLS 55 for my sister for her medical school graduation present. After taking a look at CLS 500 on display, she decided that W211 would be the way to go.

I think it's a wise move for your mother to pick the W211, it'll be much more comfortable for you guys in the back as well.

What does your mother think of the new M5? My mother-in-law hated it even though she has been a BMW fan for 30 years.

Cars aside, FWIW I think you shouldn't give up on your health so early in your life. Ask your sister! Cut down on those KK and force the wife to do some healthier cooking for you! Use those Hermes Birkins to tempt her!

Yeah, to me the CLS was a bad move for MB taking style over function. I always like cars with form following function, the CLS is heavier than the E, provides less room, and they're silly enough to call it a coupe!

But then, what do I know if people are buying it, it's a good business decision for MB.

Each to his own taste. The 5 Series BMW looks like a $30,000 car. The CLS looks exotic and expensive to me. If it was E size or slightly smaller, i'd buy one in a heartbeat.

She likes the new M5 except the rear. She thinks it's too narrow and looks cheap (not as stately as the E55). She likes the W211 more than E60.

I am off KK already. my wife does not cook, we eat out very often. I am trying to lose weight. I lost about 30 lbs since my all time high at close to 230 or 240 can't remember. But i am down to about 200 lbs right now. I just can't lose the weight from my stomach area. I lost about 6 inches from my waist.

As far as CLS goes, I really can't say anything good about it. Before i saw the car in person, the magzine shot looks okay. but when I saw it in person, i really am speechless. seeing is believing, CLS is just horrible. function wise, i don't think it's that bad. May be the blue color was not good for that car. ( i think the new M5 interlago blue looks horrible too).

I'm a little late to this post...had some computer problems.......it seems everyone is missing the boat on this thread. As a long time BMW driver (30 years), I consider myself pretty savy on these cars. BMW has ALWAYS had problems with new motors. The 12 cyl. was a disaster when introduced, the 8 cyl. had a silent recall where they replaced the motors the first year of production due to excessive engine wear if you took in to complain at the dealer, the M3's motor was troublesome causing motor replacements on a number of them. What do you think will happen the first year with the new 10 cyl.??? NOT WITH MY MONEY IT WON'T!!
Then of course there is the problem that many of you have brought up, which is I just can't stand looking at the thing. One of the car magazines said it best......" It drives wonderfully but the problem is that once and a while you have to stop for gas and then you have to look at it."
