To clear bra or not to clear bra

My E55 has just arrived in LA and I get it in a few days once it clears customs!!! Woohoo!!

Question for the group: Should I get a clear bra or not? pros - protection. cons-potential line across my hood which increases in visibility as the car gets dirtier.

looking at 3M vs. www.invisiblepatterns.com

Yes, do it.

I have had Stongard on my last 5 vehicles. At least here in NJ where there is a lot of bumper to bumper traffic during the winter it seems to really save the paint. The longest that I have had a vehicle with stongard applied was 2 years so I can not comment on what it looks like after the long haul. My E is going in on Friday for the full treatment.

On my 2004 Black Audi A4 I got the clear bra and I wish I didn't. The lines are noticeable. However, the protection is good and I 've been saved many times from rock chips. But I still wouldn't do it because I know somebody who can repaint my hood and bumper for cheap - removing the need to ahve the clearbra.

For our 2005 Silver C55, we got the clear bra. Reason? Its much less visible on light colored cars compared to dark colored cars. Plus, we don't want to mess with the nanotech paint.

northernivy,
what areas are you going to get covered? can you see a noticeable line if you get just the front covered or do you do more than that?
thanks,
Gareth

Typically I do the full kit....

Plus I have my installer create a bunch of custom placements these typically include:

Both A Pillars and strip in front of the sun roof.

The area behind the front and rear wheels that typically get nailed with road goop.

In our Wagons and SUVs I have had the whole rear bumber covered as when the gos are loaded the typically scratch this area.

I have never had a dark color car, though on a light color car you notice the edge if you are looking for it. In my opinion it is a must have. This time around I am thinking of a custom one part hood. Typically the line is 6-8" up from the grill.
