3 Tips for BULLETPROOF Mercedes-Benz Transmission (722.6 5-Speed, 722.9 7-Speed)
My previous video about Mercedes engine maintenance was a success and people asked for one for transmission maintenance to be made. In this episode, I share my 3 tips for bulletproof 5-speed and 7-speed transmissions. I explain what these transmissions are, what their common problems are, what are the symptoms of those problems, and how to avoid them.

Good info.
That’s some good info. My 05 E55 transmission has a slight shudder when driving normally in 3rd, 4th and 5th. But when driving aggressively it’s fine. The issue only shows up under light throttle. Torque converter? A solenoid maybe?

@Rovel Here are some few pointers for you as far as correct information. 722.6 Transmissions came out in 1996 NOT 2003. 722.9 Transmissions came out in 2004 NOT in 2007. Your car did NOT come with VGS1 TCU, it came with VGS2. So replacement of the whole valve body was not necessary. I have yet to have a solenoid failed, unless coolant got inside the transmission then you need to replace all the solenoids. 7G-tronic plus is not a beefier transmission that can handle more power/torque. The plus version gets a new needle bearing for the fluid pump instead of the old bushing that used to seize onto the torque converter and it also gets a newer filter along with the blue fluid. As a Mercedes Benz specialist I would recommend to do services on any transmission every 50k miles. This is meant to be constructive criticism so that we all have the correct information.
