105mm TB ISSUES

So, over the winter I decided to rebuild the supercharger with new bearings, seals etc. The forever "while you're in there" got me and I got the blower ported and installed VRP's billet surge tanks and 105mm TB kit. Since then, I've been experiencing ESP malfunctions for engine CAN incorrect signals as well as codes in M.E. for idle speed control / potentiometer signal errors. The faults only seem to occur when I'm off throttle and it's idling down. No issues during acceleration in any gear.

I've reached out to VRP with no response so far and Granatelli called and never heard of their TB's going on a Mercedes like this. They're willing to swap to verify not a bad TB but I don't think it's the issue. Has anyone found a workaround for the newer 13+ hellcat throttle body with the brushless motor?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You may have to swap out the throttle for the stock unit and see what it does. That means the stock intake snout as well.

I believe the issue is with the position sensors and how the brushless motor doesn’t have the resistance values to create the signals the m.e. wants to see.

I’ve double checked the stock and 82mm tb’s and they both work the same way 680-1480 ohms through the sweep and essentially inverted for other sensor. The brushless motor just sits at 80-84 ohms for both sensors no matter position.

My question is, is there anyway to make this work with the stock m.e.? Or am I switching to an old style BBK or Arrington with the oem brush motor?
To add to this, are there any other good tb options?

Did you perform a throttle body adaption?

Yes I’ve tried it through DAS, the key 2-1-unplug-2 let it actuate then start, and Granatelli says key 2 and actuate pedal to kickdown 5 times.

Sometimes car will run and drive with zero issues but then others it’ll act up 5 times in 5 miles. It always occurs when off throttle and has happened sitting still at a light and on decel while driving. During the fault my ndash logs show throttle position at 5 like at idle regardless of pedal position. Acc pedal sensors all sweep within values.

I made a new harness today using factory pins to rule out pin tension etc. and will monitor.

Update:

Malfunction still occurred with new harness and with a test file from Jerry at Eurocharged ( who’s service is awesome btw)

I finally broke down and bought a new factory mopar 92mm and have had zero issues so far.
Still on the 105mm tune and seems to be running a little leaner at times. Waiting on another update to help dial it in, but for now the 105 is going on the shelf until more promising results can be achieved.

Be nice if you had put the car on the dyno to see if it was even worth going to the 105.
There are many 90-92 dodge throttle bodies on Ebay for around 125.00. What one did you get?

Yeah I just haven’t had the time. I’ve been trying to set something up with Tony, but he’s been unresponsive as of late. One day, maybe over the winter, I’ll have a dyno day and bring the 105 to test as well.

I didn’t want to test a possible bad used one so I just got a new factory mopar 92. I believe by magneto-marelli? It was like $300 and bolted up to the 105 snout with a thin bead of mb black sealant.
