Help!!

Good day gentlemen. Hoping someone can help. This is my first post so please go easy on me. This is a 2005 E55 that is bone stock. It currently has 151,000 miles. My drivers side exhaust manifold has develop a big crack. My mechanic suggested headers.
I'd would rather find the OEM replacement. Unfortunately, the part is discontinued. Can anyone suggest a cost effective solution? Dont want to go LTH's route. I would consider shorties. So many different brands, VRP, MBH, etc.,,, Not sure what the best decision would be. I appreciate any advice or resources you can share. Thanks in advance!

Same thing happened to both of my exhaust manifolds. Both rewelded by a professional welder who knew how to weld cast iron. So far, multiple thousands of miles over close to a year and no issues...

Thank you for the swift response. The new conundrum is finding someone to do the work. If anyone has advice it would be greatly appreciated. I'm located in the Westchester, NY area.

Hi, and welcome. If you really want to stick to the original manifolds, I am sure you could put a "want to buy" post up here in this forum and the marketplace. There are many folks who may have them sitting around collecting dust after a header upgrade.

With that said...I would upgrade to mid-lengths or long tubes. There really is no downside to unlocking a known bottleneck. Overall driveability should improve everywhere throughout the usable range.

Which mid-length headers would you recommend? Also, would a tune need to be done to optimize it? I really just want to get her back on the road.

You can throw on PLM or VRP headers that will go right into the stock location.

Thanks for the reply. Would VRP shorties be suffice? The PLM's are extremely nice but a little more than I'm willing to invest. Also, the specs on your car are godly.
