More cold starts and idle vs. Less cold starts a0nd short drives? Advice?
SubscribeI have a question for the mechanically sound W211 family here,
As much as I would want to drive my E55 every day, I just don't have the time. It is a second vehicle which I park at work (free covered parking). That said, there are no trickle charger areas to plug-in.
I have been starting her up every 2 weeks and letting her idle for about 15 mins. (I know this is not ideal for the car, but is it a particularly bad habit to keep the battery from going flat?)
The other possibility is to start her every 3 weeks or so and go for a short 15 minute drive.
If you were in my shoes, would the car be better off mechanically with more cold starts and idling? or is it better to drive her even if it means I don't start it up as often?
I appreciate the input!

Drive it long enough to warm it up. It will heat the exhaust all the way up to get all the moisture out of it.

Thank you! That is good to know, particularly with the FL humidity. Originally Posted by Abby87426
