ECU question.

Can i ask you guys tell me, what mods are really stealthy, I'm leasing a car, and i dont want to loose my warranty, as i understood ECU is detactable if you Mb technician would connect my car to a PC or whatever device they use to read the engine or whatever they do there

So my question is would it be possible to switch ECU before i go for a service so noone notices? Where's ECU? how big it is, Or i'm talking a nonsence here... because i never done tuning.

Botom line, What mods are stealthy and undetectable ?

Mods that will provide good performace are from evosport IMO. I have their pullies and am waiting for them to come out with something new now. I wouldnt go the ECU route, but thats just me.

But ecu only would give what 15 hp? and about 7hp at the wheels.... right?

7hp for 1000 bucks? hmm... I'd do the pulley but i dont want to loose my warranty... any suggestions?

The pulley works miracles for me and others who have it. It seems as though the car runs smoother than it did stock. Dont worry about the warranty thing, it wont mess your car up.

A lot of this depends on your dealer. Technically yes, any mod can void your warranty. But, it has to be proved that the mod contributed to the failure. My dealer knows I did a pulley and ECU and doesn't really care. There are several MB dealers that install the same Renntech kit that I have on my car. And no, you can't remove your ECU and switch it out when you bring the car in. There might be some other things you consider instead of pulley/ECU. The Renntech kit cost about 5K, and i'm not sure i'd do it again. An AMG LSD is a consideration or maybe wait until Evo comes out with their EVOIV which will address the cooling issues with the car. Not sure what that will cost though.

How much did your pulley kit run you? What type of HP increases we talking about.

Thanks for the info on the ECU...that was my worst fear....1K and 15 HP.

Also, I have an unfriendly dealer here who would turn their noses up at me if I asked for pulley install. Who did your installs if not dealer....there are a couple of foreign car places around town that specialize in Benz...maybe worth it ask um huh?

Love this forum....you guys are the best....there's a lotta love in this room people...lol. ]
