E65???

Was at the Gallaria Mall tonight in Fort Lauderdale and was waiting for my car at the valet.

I saw a silver "E65" with temp tags front-parked in the valet area. It even had the v12 BiTurbo badging on it...

I wish I had my camera... What a poser as it was obviously a falsely badged E55..

it was some guido trying to show off when, in reality, he is making a total a$$ of himself. so typical in this area.

Hahaha, along the same lines I saw a bad poser last night. It was a Flint Gray E320 with E55 and AMG badging on the back and the most crooked "V8 Kompressor" emblems I have ever seen. There wasnt any space between the E and 55 either. What a F*ck rag!

I'm seriously thinking of badging my E55 as an E320 for the hell of it. Can you imagine blowing by the guy in his M5 or having fun with an unsuspecting 996 tt owner and see their reaction?

$30 for badging.
10 minutes of work.
Seeing the looks on their faces as you blow by......priceless!

no need to worry about that. I re-badged my S4 to an A4 1.8T and very very few people knew what to look for to call me out on it.

I can predict a long reply list to this thread. Anybody who calls out posers on this board, as I have done previously, will attract staunch defenders of these frauds. Hey, whatever, go right ahead and defend this guy if you defenders are out there. To have an E55 and still not be satisfied such that you have to badge as an E65 is sad. I feel sorry for that dude for the mental demons he must wrestle with.

I was at my local MB dealer the other day when I spotted a white e55 kompressor. I took a closer look at the car and I noticed the owner put V12 badges over the kompressor badges on the sides, and rebadged the e55 as "S65". I just laughed.

It wasn't fitted with an F1 bumper was it? I doubt it. There is, however, a pic on this forum of an "E65" in Affaltarbach and its fitted with an un-painted F1. I've seen worse though. I actually raced this guy just to stick it to him...and I did, but I saw him again last night. I was sitting outside of a cafe in Westwood with my car parked right in front of me, this guy drives by in his lowered W210 "E320 AMG". Wierdest thing is, he kept the E320 badges, but got an AMG badge as well. I just pressed the lock button on my key and when he saw my lights flash he slowed down for a sec, and then took off. I can't stand posers...

I badged my new E55 (450 miles) as an E320. I kept the AMG and kompressor badges however. I figure that any one who knows MB will know it is an E55, and anybody who doesn’t know MB will say “that sure is a nice MB” Maybe some kid will think he can beat a E320 because he put a huge tail pipe on his Rice Burner.

I will never understand why someone would buy an E55 and slap an E320 badge on it. Sure, its funny for a second to think about it but to actually pull off the E55 badging is senseless. What a waste. Why did you spend $90K to badge it as a $50K car? Dumb.

Its even worse to keep all the other AMG badging and still run an E320 emblem. If you gonna pull off the E55 emblem, you might as well pull it all off.

I bought the car for me, I don't give a crap if people think It cost $102,000 or $10,000.

There is nothing more fun for the street racer than to drive a real sleeper (my S6 wagon was one of these, most fun ever!)

An E55 rebadged as an E320 is no sleeper. It still looks like an aggressive, fast car. It will still have big wheels, huge brakes, aggressive bodywork, a lowered stance and quad exhaust so unless you pull all that off, the "Real Sleeper" argument holds no ground. A sleeper is a car that looks like nothing and has the money under the hood. A car that has a ton of obvious exterior enhancements is not a sleeper no matter what you badge it as.

I'd say you are wrong. That number is more like 99.9% of the population has no idea. The E55 might as well be invisible. It doesn't set off a cops radar nor does it get any oohs or ahhs at the gas station either.

That what I like about my POS Vette from 89. I put a little money into it and have a rocket that all the exotics think is a slug. Are they surprised when they get smoked. The only give away is the 11" wheels in the rear. Otherwise is looks like a stock L98 with a measily 240 HP. There is no replacement for displacement.

For some, it is a game. Besides, it is that first impression that gets the other guy thinking he can beat you at the stop light. Most guys don't sit there studying the look of your car, unless they are a Mercedes guy.

The "money spent on the car" issue doesn't matter to some of us. Relax and live a little.

I wouldn't put AMG/V8 etc. on a non-AMG car, but that's just me. If you want to go ahead. At least an E55 exists though! To badge a car that doesn't even exist? That's a little much

The week that I saw the black SL65 (the real deal) at the Palace Hotel in NYC I also saw a NUMBER of E320's and even lesser Benzes with AMG badges.

I'm sorry, but I have got to jump in on this thread. Last week I pulled into a gas station, and saw an E55 in front of me. I thought cool, I'll chat with this guy as I drop $50 into my tank. As I parked it, this guy hastily got into his car and quickly took off (it was very obvious). As he drove by, I noticed no V8 Kompressor badging on the side, and stock 320 rims on the wheels. He had fooled me from the back side with the exhaust and badging, but the side view was off. I knew he ran away when he saw a real E55 pull up. I say if you are going to carry out the deception, then stand behind your work.

On another note, driving to work today I saw a Honda badged as an M
