Almost 11.99
03 E55 - K&N Filters in Stock air box and Drag Radials (275 35 -18).
No other Modifications
Stock ECU
No aftermarket pulley
Stock exhaust
Loaded converter to 1200 rpm before launch, then eased from 1/4 to full throttle before 60'. More in launch as I have read that Treynor has pulled 1.6 60' with his S600.
60' 1.813
330' 5.085
1/8 7.767
mph 91.53
1000' 10.076
1/4 12.007
mph 117.34
Car runs consistent 12.1s at 116 mph on stock Continentals with a 1.9 60' in 75-80 weather. Last night temp was about 65 degrees. Weather definitely effects these cars as I picked up 1 mph.
Did you try launching it harder? With drag radials, I don't see why you wouldn't load up the tranny at 2,500 and floor it as soon as the light changed. Guys with 6 speed Z06's on drag radials are dropping their clutches at 4,500 rpm. They are running 1.6 60 foot times.
Your start is perfect for stock conti's, but you aren't getting the most out of drag radials.
If you did try a harder launch, let us know.

Thanks for the info and keep at it man....you'll get there.
Don't recall the part number; however, I ordered them from Summit racing. I believe the filters were about $45.00 a piece (need 2). Salesman at Summit will know the part number.

Never experienced the downshift on the launch. With respect to transmission mode, I put it in Sport and let the computer shift the car. Don't like the delay of the manual mode, and believe the program in the Sport mode shifts at the appropriate RPM.
Was thinking about the pulley and ECU modification; however, haven't heard any stories from board members that sound overwhelming positive. From what I have read, most modified cars ( pulley and ECU) gain 30-50 horsepower to the wheels on the dyno; however, pick up .1 and 1 mph in the 1/4 mile. Take the drag radials out of the equation, unless I have overlooked someone, I haven't heard about many modified E55s running trap speeds of 117.34. Since my car is strong stock, I am concerned about messing with a good thing.
I would do the ECU and pulley mod in a second if the gain was appropriate. I am a numbers person, and don't rely on seat of the pants. If the 1/4 mile ET and MPH do not improve, at a minimum, 3/10 ths and 3 mph, then the ECU upgrade and pulley, to me are not worth it. It seems that the ECU modification truly works on the 600 V12 bi-turbo, but for some reason not on our cars.
If I am wrong or if anyone has had a better experience with the ECU and pulley modification, let me know.

How easy are they to install? I was more courageous with screwdrivers and ratchet sets when my cars were cheaper.
I went to the track last month (my first time ever) and it was humid and in the high 60's and I could only get 12.5 @ 113. Maybe I need to get better at launching or maybe the temp and humid conditions played a big part.
My buddy with Renntech (ECU/Pulley) that same day could only run 12.19. Your car runs better then most modded cars.

Since I am in Florida, humidity is a killer. In addition, I was going to approach Renntech with a proposition. I have been advised that Hartmut (spelling?) has heard about my car and is interested in speaking with me. I am going to contact him on Monday.

Simple to do.

One BIG caveat:
K&N uses a cotton/wire mesh in the construction of their air filters. I've used K&N's in various vehicles over many years and never had any QC problems. Recently, I've heard some complaints about loose wire mesh particles in K&N filters, and sure enough, one of mine had a few of these (the other was completely clean). Just do a very careful inspection for these loose wire particles before installation to make sure it's perfectly clean.

My car ran about the same with the K&Ns. If the filter you are replacing is dirty, may see a noticable gain. I was told that the stock AMG filter in the E55 is a high flow unit.
