I've got this problem with my head unit turning on and off on its own. I recently picked up a new to me e55 and its got this problem with the head unit turning on and off by itself just cutting out in which seems to be 60 to 100 second increments. it will play music for a good minute and then shut off. the previous owner never mentioned this problem as if it never happened to him since he stated the aux and stereo work fine. started happening to me 3 days after I had bought the car when I went to buy an aux cord for it until it started having its issue. the previous owner also mentioned the navigation unit not functioning properly which sounds to me like its common upon further research. every now and then he would take the fuse controlling the navigation unit out which would also cause the head unit or radio to not work unless the fuse was plugged in. I've done much research but it seems I haven't found a satisfying answer and now I'm here trying to get some opinions.

Diagnostic system first which will most likely indicate an issue in the MOST ring. Research on bypassing the navigation unit. Fiber optic bypass cables are available for this.
You can perform a "soft" reboot by holding down the power button for 20(?) seconds. A "hard" reboot requires pulling two fuses out of the driver's side fuse panel located in the side of the dash. The second option worked for me when my entertainment system went bonkers. IIRC, fuses 26 and 28.

Be advised the non-AMG fuse and relay chart is NOT the same as the AMG fuse and relay chart! Significant differences that will send you down a rabbit hole! Research first and then pull fuses and relays. I have multiple posts on this subject. As an example, your 2006 E55 has a different Motor Electronics Module (ME) that controls two relays for the two fuel pumps (one relay per pump). Earlier versions (2003 - 2005) had one relay controlled by the ME to power both fuel pumps. That relay will (not if but will) melt eventually and put the earlier car on the side of the road. The 2006 eliminated that issue. Perform a search on "E55 fuel pump relay and fuse maintenance" and you will find information on the different electronics.
Edit: PM me your email and I'll send you about 30 MB of technical data originally from the initial fielding of the E55. Most (not all) will apply to your car. Also, go here and download the zip file of the WIS (Workshop Information System) for your car. Be advised, I had to use an aftermarket download manager to download the 1.2GB zip file. Win11 would choke at 1GB.

well It's not a problem anymore. I tried out the soft reboot trick and it seemed to work. now I can listen to music with no problem. thankyou for all the useful information though I wasn't expecting all of that.🫡
