Finally, something free on the house

I received 2 flat tires over the Thanksgiving week in my '04 E55. One on the day before Thanksgiving and the second on the day of. I used the canister of sealent for the first flat, but was left SOL for the second flat. MB offered to tow me to a dealership, but that does little good on a holiday when the dealership is closed and no other shops are open. All this could have been avoided if I had a spare. I went to get a replacement canister the next day, but the dealership wanted $55, what a rip off. I called MBUSA to complain, and after 2 weeks they finally agreed to give me a free canister (nice of them after I dropped $100k for their car).

Apparently '05 spare tire will not fit because of the '04 battery placement, and there are no plans to offer any type of spare for the '04.

Look in the archives - I've added it last year as have many others. There are pics online as well. My dealership wouldn't move the battery (liability issues), however a local service station did no problems

Yes do a search. It is easy to move the battery and make room for a compact spare. I have a late 2004 and it came with a deflated compact spare tire and a small air compressor. The battery is relocated toward the side of the compartment under the trunk.

Thanks for the info! I'm heading off to the dealership today to pick up my canisters. I'll look into getting a spare today also.
