New OEM vs ECE. Not sure how long they were on the car but looked like Smurf…juices… all over the undertray on the driver’s side. I thought it was a bunch of loctite but it appears to be coming out of the creative steel insert. Very strange!

Scrap those mounts and go OEM. Thats all I use and have a strap set up on the drive side for many years and never an issue. To many complanits with all these aftermarket mounts made today. Like I said my Creative Steel mount is nice and stiff but the vibration is a turn off for sure....not bad but there.

OEM’s are installed but didn’t drive the car yet cause it’s due for an oil change while I have it on jack stands anyways. Is there a good thread for the strap MOD, I forgot about that but I remember reading about it years ago.

I will look for a picture since the car is on the ground now but it is a short tow strap going around the motor mount bracket off the engine and then bolted to the frame.
The majority of guys would think it is too old school of a set up but it has never let me down, non intrusive and can't really be seen plus easily unbolts from the frame...and it's cheap !

What does the strap mod do?

Limits the engine travel to whatever you want. Mine is tight so engine stays at zero travel when under load.
I forgot to change the oil before I set car back down so I will get her back up and take a picture of it.

This is my strap set up. Not professional at all but always worked on the early years of car building and has never let me down thus far. There is slight play in it to let the mount move a little and between this and the mount, nothing ever breaks or vibrates.

This looks awesome! I can’t quite make it out; is the strap looped around the top of the mount, and you got a longer bolt to run through the strap into the bottom of the motor mount? What exactly is this mounting point here?

No it's just a nut welded to the frame and the bolt screws into it. Strap goes around the motor mount bracket.

So this is one of those "FML" times LOL thanks bbirdwell, I now know what it means ! It took many many times to get these lines bent correctly due to the tight space but she’s done ! Little bit of a pain to change jets when tuning but what ever. The placement of the nozzles gives me very equal distribution and shows in my EGT readings for each cylinder.

It doesn’t look pretty with old beat up fittings but it is worth 200 hp instantly and can’t be seen !

I can't make heads or tails of that setup, and I've been working on German cars for decades. Is there a DIY guide to doing that someone can point us to?

Not that I know of but I can tell you that the strap goes around the driver side mounting bracket on the engine, comes down to a mounting nut welded to the frame, then the bolt goes through the strap and into the nut, that's it. Take the bolt out, slide the strap out and it's back to normal.
