E55 Flint Grey/Merlot
What a Wonderful Car
Just picked up my Flint Grey/Merlot ....all the way (hold the Distronic and Pano please) and all I can say is wowie! This is an automobile. Everywhere I turn I'm impressed. The Merlot leather is subtle and adds a slight warnth. The Park Distance Control is more sorted out and functional than BMW's. The voice controlled phone is virtually flawless....no dropped calls and very intuitive.
The suspension though not the most agile in the kingdom, makes the compromise between handling and ride very well. I much prefer the handling to the C55. Finally seats that fit a guy under 175lbs. The tight bolsters on this car are fabulous. (Did that sound vaguely pornographic?)
Keyless Go is the best thing since sliced bread. The acceleration of this car, even observing the Break In Period, is so immediate and smooth. I've read about it before on this forum and 3 or 4 others but reading and being are a tad different. The car is both fun and easy to drive well. You think about the lane change or the quick passing of a slow car and it's already happened.
Had Speed Film brand of paint protector put on same day I picked the car up and Formula 1 Pinnacle ceramic tint applied today. Contis are already off replaced with Michelins. Radar/Laser stuff will be put in next week and now the search is on for the right wheel.
Wish I had remembered my camera when I took delivery, because my car was flanked by another Flint/Merlot with SL65 wheels(the gunmetal finish works well with Flint) and Renntech pulley and ECU upgrade on one side and a Mocha Black Designo on the other. Made my car look positively ordinary!
The rain has come South, so pictures will have to wait a few days.
Thanks to everyone for making the interminable wait a little easier.

Major congrats - you've waited a long time for this moment. You'll quickly find that the new owner thrill never fades with this car - it makes you grin every time you get behind the wheel.
Now we need to see detailed pics of the Flint/Merlot beast! I know it will be a feast for the eyes!
Best of luck and may it exceed all your expectations!

I too am enamored with the flint grey....
and whole heartedly agree with you that the SL65 wheels will definitely complement the look. I just installed SSR GT3 satin on my brilliant silver and the color combination just creates a great visual compostion.
Can't wait to see the pics.....(a w211 E55...my next car)
Enjoy!!

I have been looking to get the same wheels for my w211 E55. I think they look slick. Do you have the 19X9.5 in the rear? Also if you don't mind me asking where did you purchase them from? Thanks,
-Sam

Richard: congratulations! I am glad to hear that you finally found the "right" one. I, too, am begging for pics as I have never seen a Flint Grey (only saw the color from dealership's color board). I am very sure this car will bring LOTS and LOTS of driving enjoyment to you.
Please......don't say more good things about it, I am afraid I can't hold up any longer. I have forced myself not to think of a E55 for so long.
And I have to get my wife a SLK first.

Congrats!! That does sound like an awesome combo. The gray is such a nice color!!
Those SL65 wheels would look amazing with that color combo.
Good Luck with it!
