What do you make of this....
From Dragtimes.com.....isn't this supposed to be the car which would make the E55 ..."hide in the corner cold and shivering...with it's salty terrified tears washing away the dirty dispair and shame, only leaving behind a lifetime of pain as the E55 constantly looks over it's shoulder in nervous anxiety"

Car & Driver has a piece on the new Z06. 0-60 in 3.7 sec. Wanna know what is faster? CarrerraGT at 3.6 and McLaren at a few tick qiucker, that is it. Also it has the lowest lb/bhp of any supercar. Never wanted a Vette before, but now I may have to add one for weekend driving.

the new C6 should not be a problem for us, although i must say the new C6 is still very fast. I have encountered two so far on the highway and from around 60mph to about 125mph, i slowly took the lead around 80mph and by around 120-125 a was a few car (maybe 2-3) lengths ahead, but it was def a close race. On the other hand, the new ZO6 will rock, def the best bang for the buck. No question the ZO6 will dominate. I am seriously looking into a ZO6.

One of the mags said that the new Z06 had the same power to weight ratio as the Ford GT. From what I've seen though, the Ford GT is very under-rated from the factory. Its actual performance is more inline with a car with what 100 more hp or tq than claimed? So, if the power claims on the new Z06 are accurate, it will likely be a bit slower than the GT even if it looks identical on paper.

The Z06 might be fast, but.......
It does not have POWER seats, air conditioned seats, drive-dynamic seats, power trunk lid, rain sensing wipers, , power tilt wheel, airmatic suspension with driver selectable ride-height control, automatic speed-sensitive lowering, xenon high beams, active headlights, hands free communication, voice control, distronic, parktronic, power rear sunshade, sunroof, illuminated door sills, wood and leather shift knob, burl walnut trim, charcoal and blue leather, rear side curtains, trunk drawer, all cargo nets, cargo tray, a BACK SEAT, free loan car with service, or Mercedes Benz build quality. Still feel sad and blue? Not me. That is why last week I placed an order for an E55 equipped as mentioned. I feel good, as James Brown would say.
PS I did order a few other items that are either available on the Z06 or similar items are available and not necessarily in addition to its repertoire. They are Sirius, keyless go, tire pressure monitor, CD changer, Navigation, a car cover, a sun shade, and white exterior color. I can hardly wait. Let me know if I forgot anything (except for the pano roof). I decided against that one item.

The Z06 will be an absolutely incredible sports car especially for the price. I would not even try to compare it to an E55, because they are completely COMPLETELY different machines, but in it's own right you will be extremely hard pressed to find anything that can do what the Z06 can do... especially under $100k. As a long time critic of the Z06 the LS7 engine and the overall package GM has put together for the C6 Z06 is just incredible.
I'm hoping it'll make the perfect compliment (not competitor) to the E55.

well said, if I can hold off long enough I will be looking at the second year of production for the Z06.
oh, and they are estimating the price at between 75k and 85k.

2005 Kleemann Stage 3 E55
I will take my boring, slow *** E55 (compared to the new bright red, midlife crisis havin', 1980's designer jeans wearin', corvette owner) every minute of every day for the rest of my life. Cramped car performace is for people who only want to go fast and have to limit their trip length by the luggage they need to bring.
We all have great cars and with money we can beat the new vette AND have room for 4 large adults. My ideal situation.

the current C6 corvette with 400HP will not run low 12's stock.... the E55 will beat the.... I've seen quite a few of them run.... even one with a few bolt-on's wasn't hitting low 12's....
the new Z06 will be quite a car.... and should have no problem taking down E55's, and probably Vipers as well....

It won't be over $70k, and you can take that to the bank.
I'd be extremely surprised if it was over $65k (base price).

My Z06 will be black.
I'm not at my midlife, not even close really. Thus making it impossible for a crisis.
My wardrobe is up to date.
