look..what i think ALOT of you guys dont know is that a cast wheel is a cast wheel...if its made by brabus or moven or whatever...casting is a cheap process of making a wheel....i think people have the notion that its brabus so it must be good, nope..think again....a cast wheel is a cast wheel made from a mold...solidified liquid..

probably a dumb question (from someone not versed in wheel terminology), but are there differences in performance/durability/cost between cast and non-cast wheels?

which are better?

finally, back to BoBCanada's initial post, how much would it cost to get OEM 19" wheels from AMG like the ones he's posted?

cast wheels are very very heavy compared to their forged bretheren. forged wheels are pressed out of one solid piece of aluminum billet therefore is very very strong...a cast wheel is just liquid metal poured into a mold and solidified. so in the end, you get what you pay for, a cast wheel is a cast wheel whether it be, brabus, moven or asa...they are ALL the same...

ps,,cost is also a big determining factor with forged wheels.. they can cost mulitiple times the price of a cast wheel unless you are paying like $800/wheel for brabus or lorinser type cast wheels, a waste of $$ in my opionion...there IS NO performance difference in ANY cast wheels...They are ALL heavy...

Real Cars
s4avantgarde,

I think you are leaving out two very important aspects of casting, quality of materials as well as the quality of the cast. I've seen some very ****ty metals done in a poor casting that leave a very poor finish...

There are also different types of casting, mainly sand casting vs. die casting, etc.
