Anybody ever gone to Black Monoblock II ?
Thinking about refinishing my wheels - and powder coating the middle of my Monoblock II's (W210 E55) to black. The lips would be double polished.
Anybody ever done, seen this before ? Pics ? THX !

I've seen something like that on an E...
It's the 4th pic from the bottom (on the right column)

Are you talking about something on the lines of the above car?

Those are Lowenhart LDR's on that Benz, not bad but heavy heavy wheels. I am thinking about doing black powdercoat on my current wheels and chroming the lips. Can anybody do a photoshop on this pic?:

I guess you can kind of get an idea of what the black wheels would look like. Personally I think black wheels with chrome lips look sweet on almost all silver and black cars.

Admit that the black centers and polished lips look great on the 211. That is why I am thinking of doing the same to my 18" AMG MONOBLOCK II's on my 2000 W-210 E-55.
The Lorinsers shown are similar, but back to my original question - any pics or photoshops of this out there ? THX !

Vic, still cannot get ove how good they look. Are they three piece? What is the finish and what sizes are you running? How is build quality compared to HRE? The look close to the 540r which is one of the wheels I am considering.

Based on what I paid I am sure they are not as well made as HRE's or maybe HRE's are overpriced?- I have no problem with that as I have hit some huge potholes and no problems have arised yet. The only problem is that the fitment for Benz is 19x8.5 and 19x9.5- no 10 inch wheel. My buddy has the 19x10.5 on his 350Z and that lip is a beast-well over 4 inches.
I have some closeup shots of the wheel that I have posted in the past. Try a search or I will repost them later today.

The barrels are polished with a clear coat. You can get them in Hyperblack too on the face.

Thanks Vic, After two bad experiences with HRE's I want a chrome lip on my next set of wheels. I am thinking of having the lips closed and then getting the centers painted Flint Gray or Black. What do you think of that idea?

Stay away from Iforgery and DPE....crappy finish at best. If you want full custom, go with HRE, Kinesis or Fikse...There is also a new company called ApexForged that is doing something similar to HRE. And I hear their prices are like half the cost of HRE...WORD..

I had my 18" AMG monoblock rims fixed (because one was bent) and refinished in black w/ polished lip recently for my commuter silver C43K. It looks okay/different, but it would have been better if it's the 3 piece wheel. I guess it's okay since it's only my commuter car. I took them off of my E55.
Since you're in East Bay per your profile, I had my rims done at Wheels America in Union City
33446 Western Ave.
(510) 441-2199
They charge $120/wheel and it only takes 1 day to do all four wheels.

Thanks guys - good scoop.
My wheels are pretty good right now, just minor curb rash, but I like my cars nice. Was thinking about going the Black center route, but not sure it turns me on after seeing the pics. Maybe tectite gray would be better - I dunno.
I really like the stock staggered Monoblocks though, and might just wind up having the lips double polished and centers powder coated brilliant silver again.
Thanks for the Wheels America tip. Pacific Rim in Pittsburg is a good shop too.

Has anybody tried to repaint the stock rims a gunmetal color or black w/ a polished lip? Howabout you photoshop guys out there and give that a shot? All my buddies really like the stock rims and I like a gunmetal finish on a black car...
