Powerchip ecu for W212 E63

We had the pleasure of dyno tuning a beautiful white W212 E63 that just became old enough to play with. After the break in miles the owner complained that the car was too tame and wanted some help. He said he couldn't get the car to lose traction even with traction control switched off. We were happy to oblige and we were all happy with the result.

The car had a best baseline run of 422hp at the rear wheels with 386 lb/ft of torque. Depending on which published numbers you believe it's betwen a 20-25% drivetrain loss on this dyno dynamics. If we measure it as a 24% drivetrain loss it would be 523hp at the crank in stock form. The end result is a gain of about 30hp to get 552hp at the crank.

Attached are the dyno results.

nice gains, but I think he's rubbish to say he couldn't break the tires loose in stock form.

Incredible how much drivetrain loss these cars show. About 100HP, I've even seen worse.

I thought the MCT would have less drive train loss.. compared to the old 7sp auto with TQ converter.

420ish is not bad..

All dyno's are different and different factors take in to play. but the gain of 20 RWHP with simple tune is not bad.

I had high expectations of the MCT but its definitely not up to the SMG3 in terms of pure performance (gearing and shifting speed)

Hopefully they will have a true Dual Clutch transmission in the near future..

The few MCT dynos I've seen tell a different story: out of 5 I've seen so far, every single one has showed less numbers than their torque converted counter parts. I'm starting to think that the MCT does have a higher drive-train loss than the conventional tranny
