Hey guys,
As mentioned before my stock rear pirelli rubbers are basically done. My front tires still have a nice amount of thread left.
I didn't want to stay with pirelli and was thinking about hankook or contis. I don't want to throw away my front tires just yet so how bad would it be if I:
Kept the old pirellis in the front and replaced the rear with a different set.
Please comment on your opinions.

Like 3MBS already said, it's not bad but not ideal.
Find a tire that works well with this chassis and then just get into the habit of replacing the rears while keeping the fronts. When the second set of rears are done, then it'll be time to replace the fronts (one set of fronts for every two sets of rears.)
Front tires don't get much attention, but turn-in is important in how the car pivots into corners. Strong side walls and quick turn-in are something to look for in a tire. imho, Michelin PS2s and now the new PSSs are ideal on these cars.

After I toasted the rears on my C63, I went on tirerack.com to search for new tires. Pirelli makes two different P Zeros for the C63... by switching to the other ones, the treadwear rating doubled, and sure enough, I got nearly twice the miles out of them, with very little loss of cornering power.
So before you jump ship, you might see if there is a similar Pirelli that would work for you. I had no compatability issues front to rear.

Ive said it before and ill say it again, Hankooks are great tires for the money, but don't perform as well as everyone claims.
If you had a choice between the 2 I say go with Conti's.
I would even highly recommend Michelin Super Sports, put them on my car today and so far they are incredible.
