w 212 E63 -> reprogramming to NOT start in "C"

Is it possible to have the dealer, using their computer, reprogram my 2010 E63 to start in either "S" or "S+" mode?

Thanks!

It may be possible but I don't think any dealer will do it due to warranty issues. Maybe aftermarket?

The start in C is the dumbest thing ever in this car..

My service guy said nothing could be done about it.. not sure if he is for real.

Why do you think it would be a warranty issue to program it to start in S?

I know Ferrari's California model starts in a "C" type mode. I was told that it has to do with US DOT regulation so that the car will meet some sort of average MPG and/or emmissions threshold.

My guess is that MBZ cars (perhaps other mfgs?) are following.

The question is if it's done in Europe? If the Euro version of the W212 can start in the previoue mode in which is was shut-off, then the US versions should be able to be programmed to do the same.

No different than our TT's not starting in Sport or Sport Plus IMHO....

Is this C mode after start a W212 thing? My 09 SL63 MCT will revert to the previous mode when it was shut off. I better make sure to tell my service guy not to do any update on the tranny ECU.

Our W212's always start in C mode after startup- then we have to hit the AMG button to adjust and I actually have to also hit the ESC Sport Button as well. Its two pushes of a button which Im used to. I have the same issue in my 997TT- I have to hit sport and the spoiler always up button too. Its 1 second Ill never get back in my life

Oh and the GTR requires three adjustments for my personal liking: R R R mode which requires to me hold 3 buttons up for 1 second each- damn 3 seconds lost there.......

i personally dont mind hitting a button or two and the extra 2 seconds it takes. No big deal for me. I am surprised this is such a big deal?

Yup just a click to the AMG mode, but I wonder if it would sound different if it could start up in the AMG mode...

It is not a big deal. Its a minor (and completely unnecessary) irritation on a high performance car like this to have to manually switch the car over every time you start it so that it does not start out in 2nd.

I do not understand why the factory did not set up the car to allow the driver to choose what they want. Its baffling, but not a big deal.

I was told that the manditory "C" start is beginning MY2010 +. So, no worries about your MY2009.
