Questions about moving from C63 to E63
My family is getting bigger and would like something with a little more space. Also I like the creature comforts of the E over the C. The power in the C has been more than adequate for me.
Should I consider a low mileage 2011 with the 6.2 motor or wait on the 5.5TT? I'm not in a real hurry, but I figure they might be willing to deal on the 2011's.
I'm not a huge fan of buying a first gen car, so I have some reservations about the turbo, but I've also been reading of some potential issues with the M156 motor although I certainly wouldn't call it widespread. Mine has been flawless.
My 2009 C63 is a non P30/P31, so would the stock E63 motor feel a little more powerful than my C, or would the heavier E cancel most of that out?
My 2012 build online came out to over 100k. 2011's can be had for high 70's to low 80's. So a significant savings.
Thoughts, opinions?
I plan to test drive the TT next week so that will help.
Lastly, is there a way to tell if the car has the performance package or not? I've come across some that have an upgraded "AMG Alcantera" steering wheel, but it does not list the PP.

I think you mean the TT as the 1st gen car rather than the '10 being the first gen car, since M156 has been around for a while.
I have finally located a dealer with new '12's and plan to test drive the TT this or next week. I'm just if having Alcantara headliners, though nice, really worth getting a '11 over a '10.
For PP, I think it will have the red brake caliper...maybe???

the 10's and 11,s didnt have the red calipers , i think
from my search, there is only one 10, with PP, and thats the one in laguna, steel grey, with 25K miles, ,

If i were you i would go for the '12 e63, but thats because i prefer more space, c is just too small especially for a family. Just ordered it with PP and think it will be worth the wait. I hear the TT with or without PP is a big improvement in terms of how the car feels. PP or P30 can be identified by red calipers, alcantara flat top/bottom steering wheel, carbon fiber engine cover-those are the only ways i know of identifying it.

I think the red calipers were an addition to the P31 package and not the early P30 package at least in the C63. The only E63's with red calipers that I've seen have been 2012.
The alcantera steering wheel was a clue in the C63, but I've seen some E63's with an upgraded steering wheel, but no PP package.
