Way too prone to chipping... done it before with the E55 and a few others. I just need the black plastic one.

Hi all, I have an E63 black wagon on order supposed to arrive any day now, and I definitely want to replace the grill. Interested in matte black, so was thinking maybe there's a way to put a plate in the back of that eBay grille for Distronic... I'm an engineer and product designer so I think I could do it, but unfortunately there's no way to know unless I just order it and check it out.

Did anyone end up successfully ordering that grille from ForMyMercedes?

What I would really love is a CF grille.....

Sorry guys - just back from a business trip. Grill is on - very easy 5 min plug n play. Quality seems great and there were no fitment issues whatsoever.

Only regret is that it's not 100% in tone with my Obsidian Metallic. Also it doesn't look too good with the hood star so for anyone considering this I definitely recommend going with a flat badge from one of the vendors here.

Looking forward to see the pics. Yes, definitely would go better with a flat hood badge--having two upright stars at that location would be too much.

What is different about the distronic "badge" up front? Is the surrounding material some kind of special glass, or is the radar unit housed there?

I guess the reason I'm asking is because couldn't Vic simply order the one with the mesh, then have the mesh cut out and polished? Personally that would appeal most to be - I *hate* the stupid distronic black plastic/glass on the grills. Ruins the look.

I hate it too- but I hear its a necessary protector for the radar. But if anyone has done a none distronic on a distronic car please do tell.

formymercedes flat emblem does not fit, atleast not for me.
after putting it on there was a gap on the sides.
ordered one from jspeed so hopefully that fits flush

I did plasti dip on the original grill and ornament and it came out great and the good thing about the plasti dip is it is durable and comes off when you get tired of it. I also sprayed the bottom of the front lip. Tell me what you think. Not the best pic as we were preparing for the td Issac yesterday. There are a few more pics in my garage.

I might have to go down the plastidip route myself. I bought the eBay 55Tech matte black grill and it looks and fits great but it chips easily. I'm thinking a few coats of the plastidip might be a little more durable rather than spraying matte black again.
