i drive them all, fast and hard
Paddle shifting, M or S+

whats the best optimal method of paddle shifting to enjoy the car...

i have found that i really havent used shifting at all, as the car gets up the highway speed darn fast and when i going from 70-90 u really dont have to do much, and even if i need to pass or something, the tranny is so responsive and shift to the appropriate gear

i recall that in mercs trannys, that if u hold down or hold up the paddle for a few seconds it will find the optimal gear you are supposed to be in . Does this still stand tru, or is each paddle shift independent of what might be optimal

wouild S+ be ideal so if i want to return to auto mode, i can easily

also if im going to do a canyon run this weekend, i want to have somefun so paddle shifting would make sense right,
so what do you guys think about the modes
thanks

M for sure. Be careful don't get overzealous. You should take some driver education HPDE events... Both S and S+ are great but generally speaking not more intelligent than a good driver...

I've done it in every auto car that has a manual mode. I imagine it would be locked or have a complicated procedure to engage it if it was detrimental to your engine/transmission. I believe the other non M modes are slightly slower at shifting than M. Leave it in S if you just want to cruise, don't be surprised if you slam on the brakes and the revs stay high, the car keeps the revs high so you can power out of a turn.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
There is always the worry that one might mess up and the engine might blow up when it over-revs.
