Start/Stop Criteria
OK OK, i know nobody really uses it much but dunno who else to ask because only amg cars have this....
just wondering if anyone has figured out what the criteria is for it to work.
for example i drove 5 miles of city today, and made full stops at traffic lights, and the entire journey the car did not turn off.
the engine temp was 180-190. so i dont think it has to do with that.
There have been times in the morning that i have driven 100meters and make a stop and it turns off...
the entire drive today it just said start stop inactive.....
just trying to figure out the rational for the system
thanks

I have the same confusion. I noticed that if the a/c is working at full regime, it won't stop...makes sense. I also noticed that if the engine doesn't stop but I shift the transmission to neutral, it often makes the engine stops...doesn't make sense. The manual lists a few conditions including outside temperature, engine temperature and the cabin temperature having not reached its setting yet. Maybe it's a combo of all of these that makes it look random...but it's doesn't explain why it shuts down on neutral and not on drive sometimes.

i had it turn off with the AC on, and yeah the air gets warmer, as if it was only on ECON
i hate it when it doesnt turn off until im parking in my garage. First time it did that, i didn t think of pressing the P button and i almost ended up in my backyard.

Yes, all those criteria that must be met before it engages. Definitely complicated. I bet it must be frustrating to those concern with fuel economy. Hopefully the system doesn't go crazy in the future and inadvertendly shuts off the engine at situations where you don't want it to.
