How do you remove the cf engine cover?

I posted this on the CLS63 forum but I thought some of you would know how. I'm trying to get access to the ecu to remove and ship it for a tune. I want to make sure I don't mess up the engine cover in the process. Any DIY instructions for a M157 would be appreciated. Thanks!

heres a video sent to me by the guys at vtech.

be careful, he makes it look really easy in the video, it wasnt for me.

first, i couldnt get the two small "ears" on each side off. i ended up breaking off one of the tabs from the bottom of the cover.

the center piece comes off pretty easily. 2 tabs

just remember to pull STRAIGHT up . and pull hard and quick. holding the cover itself.

Thanks! I did it when the engine was hot, the cf was quite flexible so it was pretty easy to remove. You're right, the ears at the back resisted a bit. I can imagine they can be pretty stiff when the engine is cold. The challenge for me will be to put it back cold...

putting it back is easy, just align it and smak it down.

dont know how it would be easier when the engine is hot.

( i would think it would be harder, since metal expands when its hot?)

Thanks. The cf cover gets pretty soft when the engine is hot...that's what I meant.

BTW, when do you expect to get you ecu back? Write a little something after your first run!

I know what you mean...I also find it a bit too domesticated so the tune should transform it into a wilder animal; I don't really need more power, just more rawness. But you seem to like your cars more extreme...will an ECU tune be enough for you as it won't change the tranny or the handling? Not much to lose to try vs severe depreciation if you get rid of it. Good luck anyway.
