Blacking out the trim in progress--question about the star on the hood

I'm halfway through blacking out the trim.
Plastidipped the rear and side emblems (which turned out suprisingly well and easy to do), vinyl'd the window trim which proved too difficult for me to plastidip and have the black front grill on order.
I need to black out the star and I don't like the flat hood badges. I want to keep it stock look but in black.

I think I'll buy a replacement (leased car) and paint it black. Too tough to vinyl and I don't think plastidip will work on it (but I may try)

Question: Not sure how this part is constructed. Do I just get the star and the escutcheon and the base inside the hood stays as is or is the entire unit swapped?

I'm seeing some stars on ebay for $40 or so, which say they fit w212 in the header, but not when I select my model from their drop down boxes.

Anybody have a recomendation where I can get this, intending to paint it?

Will post some pics when I get this finsihed.

I found quite a few but none except an amg was close to appealing so I did the plastic dip to the star, grill and the chin of the front spoiler

Star Hood Emblem

I have a hood star emblem if you still need. My car is blacked out too and went with the flat badge so i dont have a use for it. Give me $20 for it if you want. Im in E. Hanover.

Just my 2 cents - Once you put the plasti dip and the vinyl wrap to work its a wrap!!! your car is no longer stock...You should go with the flat hood badge, 10 extra hp lol. I just took this beast for a spin today and I must say its definitely stock. You mentioned that you need something painted? A good friend of mine knows a thing or two about blacking a car out.

Just notice ^^^ what's up aboutros? I told him to go with the flat badge as well...WOW

Consider it done! Flat badge all the way especially since we can add 10 more HPs. LOL. By the way Julian, I am not a big fan of all black cars but your car is sick. I love the look and the stance on your car. Is it lowered? Mine is going to be dropped next week. I just also blacked out the badge on the star on the back.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
The flat emblem looks good and brings out the sporty nature of this series. However, there is something with a blacked out star-mean looking in a different kind of way.

Any pics of the plasti dip grill. My car is palladium also and have blacked out most of everything but the grill. Used Plasti on emblems and wrapped everything else . Plasti is a wonderful product. Just not sure what it will look like with such a large piece and that textured finish

Oh yea, love the grill. Are you going to remove the chrome side trim?

Thanks Clmulli, I am not sure yet. Next week I will wrap the trim around the windows and then see. The trim matches the polished lip on the rims and adds depth to the doors and its lines.

I will post pictures of the wrapping and then make a determination on the side chrome.

Are you still thinking about the drop. I washed the car last night and the car looked so much meaner with the drop as compared to before.

E350 20's

Did you have to drop your palladium grey e350 to fit the 20's in that photo?
