i drive them all, fast and hard
another quart of oil

so after 6 months and 6500 miles, the add a quart of oil warning came on for the second time.
i think the first one was around 2000 or so..


how often do u guys get this and is this something we will have to deal with always

2k and 4k miles---- turbo engines burning oil- par for the course based on how you drive.

I burn a quart on my 997TT in the same periods as well.

Mine situation is probably nonapplicable since I have the M156. I have driven around 6K miles since I got the car and I haven't gotten a low oil warning light yet. Maybe I'm not driving it hard enough.

It's pretty common to add 1-2 qts of oil between service visits. All four of my AMG's as well as my BMW M's drank oil. Pretty standard with high performance engines.

Owner's Manual online (page 388) states 0W-40 or 5W-40 for E63. Considering you are in San Jose I think you'd be ok with 5W-40 since temperatures don't drop that low in the winter.
