200mph project
This is more of a research topic than a project thread.
I have read quite a fair bit about the 2012 5.5TT E63. It appears to have a great potential for tuning, as per software mods done by likes of Weistec or AMS.
But can it safely hit 200mph?
I have always preferred estate to saloon cars and the 2012 E63 is no different. So this project/research topic would have to concentrate on the estate (wagon) version of E63.
Having done some preliminary research I came to conclusion that the following three issues must be addressed:
1) power and the engine/gearbox/etc ability to withstand enough power to proper the car to 200mph;
2) aerodynamics of the car (i.e. splitter, flat underbody, diffuser, maybe a spoiler on the back of the car);
3) suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres.
The starting point would be 2012 E63, obviously not a new car (when this project of mine goes ahead it would be in 2-3 years). The interior must remain the same so this would not be a bare-shell type of project.
I must stress out that this would not be an open chequebook project. Some costs are unavoidable but many mods can be done without the "AMG tax", much similar to pricing of likes of fabtech performance guys and they product range for W211 E55 cars.
Lastly, I am based in the UK so some parts would have to be sourced within Europe, obviously for financial reasons. Over here we have an event originally organised by the Lancer Register forum members. It takes place on an airport runway, not just any runway but one used by the Tornado Fighter Jet aircrafts, so it is as smooth as a baby's butt (so I heard
)So, this is my project idea. Can this be done?
And this one had a parachute.
Granted this is from the car speedo which is perhaps a few % off actual speed but there is no doubt the new 5.5 TT is an absolute monster.

I am little bit surprised with the response and jokes, but I do not really mind having a bit of laugh here.
