Tire preference?

Hey everyone, haven't been on here in a while.

What type of tire do you prefer on your e63? I've been hearing a lot about Toyo but i'm starting to get the impression that they are more for track use, but if thats not true please let me know. I will have to change my tires somewhere in the near future and need some good advice on what to buy. The continentals that came on it weren't bad enough to make me change right away but i feel a new set of tires will really help my car.

Any input is appreciated! thanks

Where do you live, and what kind of driving do you do with the car.

Thanks, i'm doing some research and i guess those only come in the "max performance summer" category. Very stupid question, do you guys use these year round? how bad are they in the rain?

thanks and sorry for the dumb question

If you want a step up in performance from ContiSport 5, you should go RE11.
They are the most civilized of the "Extreme Performance Summer" tires.
I run them all year.

Ditto. I have heard they outperforms other tires in the rain, too.

thanks lunarx,
ive done a fair bit of research on the re11 and they're sounding pretty tempting. Would you mind telling me the compromises you have to make compared to the tires you had before? How much more road noise and if you really notice it. Also if there's anything you don't like about the tire.

thanks

There is nothing I don't like about the RE11.
As for road noise, there isn't any.
They are very quiet and comfortable tires.
NVH is noticebly lower than the PZero I replaced.

Compared to other performance tires, that I have had [PZero, PS2, Eagle F1, RE71, NT01, RA1], these are easily my favorite for all year use.

To sum it up, fantastic grip and undetectable NVH.

I know the PSS is a contender but if you are on stock 19x9.5 wheels a 295-30-19 is not a good fit.
Even a 285 is pushing it for a 9.5" wheel.

With wider wheels the 295 PSS would compare alot better to a 285 RE11.
I'd still take the RE11, because I believe the soft compound and wider tread blocks result in better dry performance.

I have Michelin Super Sports on my 2010 E550 and the rain traction here in Florida is excellent. I use them year round. Tread is a bit firm below 40 degrees, but otherwise it was obvious to me why Ferrari tried to make them exclusive to 458 Italia. They help compensate for lack of limited slip rear differential on my car.

So far the rears have lasted about 19k, 4k more than average on 2 sets of Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics. Going to replace this week.
