C&D estimating 0-60 of 3.2. That's just mind blowingly low. Can't wait for summer to get here...

Reassurance that the engineers at AMG have not taken the fun out of the E63 with the 4matic but rather improved it.
I think with a simple tune, this car will be a 10 sec car.
Summer can't come fast enough for the E/CLS to arrive in the US.

It's funny when I watch this video they make a big deal about the 590 lb/ft of torque the S produces when our P30 cars already have that. Big difference of course will be the AWD launch. Full time 67/33 torque split should keep it fun but def improve the off the line action and hopefully cut down on the intrusive stability/traction control.

Visually the redesign has me thinking Mercedes could have just added AWD and power bump with a few minor stylistic changes and been just fine. Found myself looking at the previous model clips in that video and admiring the styling more than the 2014.

Not sure when next gen is due, but will most likely wait it out.

Remember you cant see the design when you are enjoying the drive. So you just have to approach the car from behind, sitnbehind the wheel and enjoy it. Tail end still look great.

Looking at MB site and on the video, they mention that the S version will come with limited slip differential to the rear wheels.
This implies that the non S versions will not have LSD.
I understand the importance of LSD in RWD cars, but I'm having a hard time understanding the importance of LSD in AWD cars?
If all 4 wheels are powered, what's the need to transfer power to wheel with more traction?

Keep in mind 67% of torque is full time to rear wheels. Still more of a RWD biased setup.

Non S Models will have LSD as an option, just not standard

I guess my question is whether or not its even necessary in an AWD car.

AWD doesn't necessarily distribute power evenly from side to side thus adding an LSD evens out the traction to both rear wheels on launch and cornering

Thanks.
I really like the new E63.
My current lease ends in July.
Hopefully, it will be available by then...

FML. I just got an E550 biturbo. I would have waited for S line.

necessary, no. Better, yes. MB isn't the first to automatically include LSD with AWD. Porsche (911) has done the same thing. Audi typically does not afaik.
