Battery Problems Anyone?
I've had this happen to me several times now where I've kept the car in accessory mode for under 30 mins and when i go to start the car i get nothing. It happened to me this morning and I had the car on for maybe 15 mins. Seems really unusual to me for the battery to drain that fast....the headlights weren't even on.
(Just for clarity when i say accessory mode, i mean the mode where the fan is blowing as well....not just where the radio is the only thing that is on)
Anyone else experience the same or know what may be causing this?
Several weeks go by and everything was normal. Then the car would not turn over again and again over the next few weeks, good for several days at a time.
I finally had time to take the car into MB. The tech diagnosed it to a faulty battery and replaced it under warranty.
Now if you're in accessory mode and actually have the car fan running for 30 minutes I would think that will drain the battery down enough where it won't have enough current to crank the motor over. This vehicle requires a lot of power to turn over and is an electrical hog.
I ended up buying a schumacher jump starter that plugs into your home 120v AC outlet and charged it overnight to get the car started those few times it was completely shot.
took it in for an oil change and they said diagnostics stated low battery fault registered on a few ocacaions. They replaced battery under warranty. And they did some part replacement (sorry can't be more specific)
after that, never happened again, have had new battery for over 6 months.
In any case, bring it in, they know there is a problem.
Oddly enough, now i get a warning that says "Auxiliary battery malfunction".
bringing that in next week to check on.
Dealer replaced aux battery under warranty. Said there was a bad cell. Problem resolved. Other than that car has been aok, finishing up driving it through New England winter, without issues. regards- Tom
