Late to the party here----
if money is not an issue do it... I personally wouldnt even with the money because I dont track the car nor do I keep them (cars) long enough to worry about replacing a non ceramic set up.

On uneven Chicago streets the ride with CCBs is noticeably better.
Also, lower unsprung weight is equal to multiple weight savings on the rest of the car so performance is also slightly better.
Having said that though, for 99% of drivers these advantages are negligible and IMO,do not justify $12k expense.
My personal situation is very specific and I appreciate that option,it works for me and I don't mind to pay for that improvement.

I might go for it afterall. It's only money and you can always make more and if I am not happy because I didn't go 'all the way' in my ~130k benz then it would be a mistake.
How are your CCBs when it's cold out?

I have the same dilemma here Chocofishez... switching from a C63 to an E63 wagon (more room for family!). can't seem to decide on the CC brakes! the look is incredible but price is steep. I agree that I don't want less brake than on C63...

From my experience, if you track the even once, you will want CC brakes.
If your a moderate driver it is a waste of money.

RacingBrake has light weight two piece rotors for C63 which can substantially reduce the rotor weight from 36 lbs to 24 lbs (12 lbs per rotors):
http://www.racingbrake.com/Two-piece...ONT-p/2141.htm
Matching rear two piece saves 5.25 lbs per rotor:
http://www.racingbrake.com/Two-piece...-08-p/2142.htm
Total cost for four corners cost less than $2,500
They are made with proven technology and improved metallurgy that are guaranteed to outperform and last longer than those expensive CCM rotors. In fact we were requested by Corvette ZR1 owners to make iron rotors for replacing factory CCM rotors (due in 3 months). Here is a thread at Corvette Forums about ZR1 owners voice on their CMM rotors:

We also offer the guarantee no squeaking performance street pads for the front and rear.

Just my experience. If you don't, you can always change it later. The price for replacing later is about 14K with freight and all OEM parts needed. It is more than the MB option but you get to keep or resell the original setup. I did it myself and it is simple. It looks good and no more brake dust....

Great post thanks for all the feedback!
it's funny how different we all are...IMO the look and no brake dust alone justifies the 12'000 usd option
The unsprung weight is also great

'22 Alpina B7,'21 G63 Renntech obviously (wife), Wrangler(kids)
Let's put it this way,I've been driving only CCB equipped cars exclusively(S63 was exception and of course I destroyed it's brakes in less then 8k miles) for the past 5 years or so.
I can not even imagine not to have them on my personal car and every time I get behind the wheel of a car with conventional brakes (high end rentals in LA) I feel like I have inadequate stopping power.
I am even ordering them for my wife's next daily driver.......

I'm inclined in going for it when I order the car (soon I hope!). Anyone know if 18 inch wheels will fit because I need a winter set and usually downsise by an inch... The gap between caliper and wheels seems tight to downsise!

Doubt it. On conventional brakes modern AMGs (mid 2000 era forward) the smallest rims you can get are 19". Being that the carbon ceramics are an even larger diameter disk, 19" is still probably the minimum rim size you can go.

I had 18 inchers winter wheels on my 2011 C63. Fit was tight but space left... Anybody tried 18 inchers on CCB? Otherwise I will put 19" winter tires on.

That's an old post. 19 inch winter wheels already waiting in garage. I just need to make sure the clear the CCB before mounting tires.

The stock CCB rotor is 401mm, is it not?
Unless you have a way to remove the shield behind the FF rotors on the 2014's, 18" wheels will not fit.

They mesure 17 5/8" on the inside (smallest diameter). Do you think it will be OK? I should get car in about 10 days so I will know for sure. If they don't clear I'll have a set of 19"SLS replica wheels for sale!
