How does it handle in the rain?

Hey guys,

I have been offered the new/face lifted E63, From all the reviews I've read it's meant to be great! Living in England however there is a lot of rain, and this is one of the main things stopping me. How does yours handle in the rain?

Thanks

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
I'm sure it will do really good especially with the 4WD.

Thanks for the reply however the UK do not get the 4WD, so I was wondering how the RWD E63 handled in the rain

I've got a 13 and made it through my first fall/winter and now rainy spring and it's great.

the stability/traction control really do a good job of keeping everything in check.

the traction control is very useful if you are a driver that needs it, the middle setting is also fun because you can slide the car around without getting too out of shape. The handling in the rain is almost completely up to your tires, the rear wheel drive vs. awd is more of a traction issue, it doesn't help with cornering.

Get yourself a good set of tires and you will be fine

Sidenote: summer tires perform better than all-seasons in the rain, but very cold temperatures or snow will not be a good idea.

Sorry, I forgot AWD is no available in the UK. Yes, it will handle very well with appropriate tire. As always, AWD helps only with incline and starting. AWD doesn't help with cornering or stopping.

By the way, I have just learned a year ago that summer tires perform better than all season in the rain. That was a total surprise.

Yes, I have researched in the past year the phenomenon I have mentioned on both the AWD and summer tires and those are confirmed info.

I'm not sure what tires come with the new '14 E63. However, I have a feeling it will be the same as before. If you are wondering about the oem tires for various years, go to tirerack.com and enter the vehicle infos to see the oem tires. However, the oem tires might be different for the UK.

My 2010 even with mostly bald Michelin Pilot Sports is the best handling car in the rain I have ever driven. I now have new Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires and its a dream.
