Vented hood for W212 E63 BiTurbo, ANYONE?
Anyone know of any manufacturor that makes vented hood for w212 e63?
I noticed that a lot of heat gets stuck in engine bay and figured a vented hood would help? Perhaps AMG installed one in c black and c 507 series (maybe for the same reason).
I am trying to reach out to BOCA but responses have been very slow

Got in touch with Boca...see below picture
Can anyone who used Boca carbon fiber products chime in and give their review?
I am interested in hearing about the quality of their carbon parts

E63, SLS Black Series
Did you end up getting it? If so I would love to know what you think. I am out of Texas and after running the car hard it just sitting stationary in the driveway made the exterior temp read 135. After I run the car I always end up popping the hood to let my baby cool. Just wondering how much the hood helps as well as make and first impressions.

Quality is great (got double sided dry carbon), extremely light, and its 100% bolt on. Only thing you will need is this part from autozone #ML3000 (everything else is transferable)
Will try and post some pics of it when i get a chance.

MBWorld Fanatic!
This might be a stupid question...I always wonder what happens when it rains with vented hood. Does the water pour into the engine compartment?

Maybe the OP can let us know how water drainage is handled and whether he sees any real world gains in heat evacuation/cooling. I'm sure there's a significant weight reduction. I'm half tempted to get one eventho I'm not turbo'd but I must resist...

I got it two weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to really push the car since but i can tell you that i see heat coming out of the vents (especially drivers side).

I often wondered the same and I believe it would albeit onto non-electrical components judging from the vent locations. Or maybe there are siphoning channels we can't see that direct water away?

As i said on the previous post you could definitely see heat coming out of vents but i havent had a chance to drive the car hard with ne new hood as of yet. Will update once i do that.
I plan on painting it to match my car and leave the VENTS and the TOP of the two BUMPS on the hood CARBON. What you guys think?

I'd put that money towards sourcing a matching carbon fiber trunk lid. Now that would look stellar and save even more weight

It's all personal preference and it would probably look good painted the way you describe but it'd be a waste to cover that carbon. I would also venture a guess they'll need to sand the carbon for paint adhesion so once it's painted, there's no going back.

Going to be the guinea pig on this... ordered. About $3500 shipped, will take 3 weeks (but given my recent luck with vendors grossly underestimating their production time maybe December).
