Input needed for decision...
A little background. I have never owned an AMG car yet. I told dealer recently to order the new E63 S model with a few different designo options. Well the order is going to take longer because of this and am probably looking at January delivery if lucky. This car will replace wife's 2012 E550. I've been a Porsche fan and the wife recently is liking them more and more. The car I get it will be a daily driver for physician wife and needs AWD here in midwest. I have been contemplating canceling this order and getting a 2013 Carrera 4S. I thing the new E will be a little faster than the Porsche but Im not a tracker with my cars. The Porsche has that wow faster the E doesn't. I keep going back and forth between the two and was looking for a little more input from the board and people who may have owned both. Thanks

The E is about a half second faster to 60. Don't know about the E smoking it but yes it will be faster straight line. Just don't know if it will be as fun to drive taking everything else into account. Appreciate the feedback so far.

The C4S is a great car and is very different than the E63. I own a 911 and hopefully soon an E63 and would recommend the C4S if:
- You prefer a sportier ride over a softer luxury ride quality.
- You won't be using it for a lot of highway trips.
- You appreciate the handling and fun-to-drive factor that's inherent in a lighter car. Here, the c4s is like 800+ lbs lighter!
- You don't need the storage space.
To even consider 0-60 or 1/4 mile times just utterly misses the point here. They're both very fast cars, but very different to live with.

I too am disappointed with the Wait and have been thinking of another car. For me though it would be an R8 V10. I saw the new C4s at the auto show this year and with the aero pack it is a looker, so I can see why you would be considering it. But I think even my c63 would be better around town as a dd. I also just did a long highway trip early in the am with no cops around and it was really great. Lots of power for big passes.
You should drive an AMG if you haven't. The torque down low is pretty incredible. The new E is the only car available other than an S8 that appears to give more of everything when compared to my C. But waiting sucks. I might get a 997 turbo to have something new to me for the rest of the year until the 4matic e63 gets here, or decide I am man enough for an R8, but that would mean no new E63. I'm torn too and probably not much help, heh.
