Problems: limp mode !!

Car went into limp mode and cels came on. I was driving in heavy traffic and then after traffic went away at small acceleration at 3 rpms car went into limp mode and everything possible on the cluster started comin on that is not working or visit workshop. It was little scary because I had my 5 month old son in the backseat. I pulled over removed the ecu with the tune and threw in the second ecu with the stock tune and everything was fine till next day after the cel came on. So I had to dropp of the car at the dealer and a lot of issues popped out. First: pedal sensor, boost sensor and then oil pump needs to be replaced. Everyday they find something new, car has been at the dealer for 3 days. Anyone had similar problems?

Renntech and i did 12k on this tune. Once after i installed one step colder plugs i had misfire in 4 cylinders. That was only problem but I guess the car is designed for 600hp and not 700 so after a while things will brake. So i guess nothing is bulletproof or its just my luck.

Wow. I suppose this might be the reason Renntech recently released their "Intermediate" tune, making a bit less power than the standard version. Now you've got me worried to throw any tune on my new 13 E63. Please keep us posted as further details are available.

wow scary......i wonder if there is a definitive way to know if these faults are from the tune or just other factors.

Weird part is that i was going about 40mph and slowly accelerating so it is not like i was on abusing the car. I guess the problem was increasing over a period of time.

I had the same problem when my ignition coils failed on a couple of cylinders. Once MB replaced all of the coils, I have had no problems.

Whew. I thought your wife hijacked your account. Good luck with the fix.

same here with an older AMG..

limp mode was caused by bad connection with spark plug wires..

When the spark plugs replaced, did you change to new wires too? From the little i know.. you should never reuse those wires.

CEL would come on and dash light would come on..

I would start there..

Picked up the car 3 days ago. Everything is even better now. The oil pump, pedal, boost sensors were replaced. The car seems responding much better than before. I ve been driving it "like its stolen" last few days and no problems. The dealer said because of the bad oil pump boost sensor were filled with too much oil and etc... and that was causing a chain reaction of different issues. I hope for no more issues..

Good news.
I am about to get the car tuned and that scares a bit. The intermediate tune is not that much different hp wise so I am torn which one to get. I would think that if there is a shop that knows what it's doing, it's Renntech. You are paying the price but hopefully the peace of mind as well.

Glad to hear you are back on the road and that it wasn't tune related.

If I were you I would call Renntech directly and ask them to explain the differences between the two tunes and help you decide which one is right for you. I will be doing the same thing in a few weeks. Let us know what they say and which one you end up going with.
