Renntech E63S
bargain shopping this type of thing is not the best idea, i don't think. i have the Renntech software, and a few other bits from them. they are pricey, but very high quality and excellent service. nobody- not shops, dealers or customers are really saying anything negative about them, their products or their service.

i had a CEL from failed coils, and they were ready and willing to cooperate with whomever i chose to service the car- even though the issue was not their tune.

further, keep an open mind when doing this stuff. if little issues are going to throw you into a tailspin of **** and anger, you might just avoid any software tuning. this is less a check-writing situation, and a bit more hobby-like. that is to say, you're better off doing nothing if you're not interested in embracing all the aspects of high-level tuning. maintaining a motor that creates nearly 700hp is expensive, period.

Wow, lots of people seem to be having issues with Weistec tunes and their customer service. I had also been considering them but now definitely going Renntech again.

Glad to hear this. I've had nothing but positive experiences with Renntech as well. They seem to be a clear case of you get what you pay for. When tinkering with $100K+ cars, makes sense to spend a bit more and have peace of mind knowing the tuning was done right.

2012 CLS63 AMG
I can confirm AMS doesn't drill the box. I've had their tune on my '12 CLS63 AMG for over a year and 15k miles now, no issues at all, very happy. I posted a thread about my experience in the W218 section. I've taken it to the drag strip too and the numbers backed the tune up (see thread in sig).

Dyno tune numbers are easily to manipulate. Therefore it is easy to manipulate the tune numbers you see in ads. With AMS you can trust the dyno results because they back them up at the track.

I'm on my second tuned m157, both by AMS/alpha performance.

2013 w 17,000+ miles (sold) zero problems (tuned around 5000 miles I believe)

2014 w 6,000 miles , zero problems (tuned around 3500 miles)

How do the transmission hold to the new found power and is this something to worry about?
