No, this stuff is not entirely in the DOG. Thanks 335X; I needed to know the offsets to pick up a set of winters in preparation for the car coming this fall.

This is on my mind too. What kind are you going to get?

Anyone know what the OEM tires are?

I really hope offsets are the same as current model. I picked up set of winters last year for my 2012. I hate to have to get a new set.

No idea what winters we'll get. The Yokohama W-Drive on our Audi have been pretty good, and cheap too IIRC.

I'm assuming the OEM tires will be what's on the NY Auto Show S-wagon: the same Continentals as current. But who knows.

Offsets are the same.

It will likely come with contis or pzeros.

I think I am going to swap out the stock tires with pilot sport a/s 3s.

For winter, blizzaks or ice bears.

Glad to help.

I didn't think some of that was in the DOG (offset especially which I had been searching for).

For winter I am going with the new Michelin Aplin PA4. Per the tirerack guys it was top rated over the Pirelli Sottozero in some European snow/winter test. The problem with the Blizzaks is they have discontinued the LM-60s with no replacement announced. Good deal if you want them, but if you need a single tire in mid winter from a nail or bubble, you are SOL.

The W212 forum can be a little slow I am realizing along with stuff spread all over. Hoping to infuse some new life as a new to-be-Benz owner and collect info in one or two places for reference. I realize I may be redoing somethings as the W212 pre 2014 is very similar, but hopefully more people will find it useful.

Anyone opposed to me starting a W212 registry post? All years, color, options, mods, etc?

What wheels are you guys going with for your winters? OEM? I am considering an aftermarket set for summer so will use the OEM wheels for the first winter.

For tires I have run pilot alpins, blizzaks and Dunlop winter m3s. All were passable in the snow but junk on dry roads around freezing. I don't know if a performance winter tire exists? Weight comes into play for the big E too.

Choco,

Here was Luke@tireracks reply to that very question...

"That Pirelli Sotto Zero Serie 2 tromped the Pilot Alpin PA3 ... the new PA4 returned the favor and would be my pick ... all of the ADEC euro tests had the PA4 at the top of the heap"

Found this from 2012: Winter tyres

In 255/35 19 size, only the the Blizzak LM-60, the Pirelli SottoZero II and the Michelin Alpin PA4 are available.

Michelin: Review Seems the Michelin's are the best for dry stability and grip.

More info

What is the term for that residual you posted?

I show 54% for 36 months on the E63SP (The S model) at 15k miles or 57% for 10k miles. The NON S car has a 58% std mileage residual for 36 months. But who wants that car LOL......

Vic,

Got those numbers from Captlst in another thread. I asked where he got them from and he said the August Dealer Program guide.

I am guessing you have the August program guide as reference and those number don't jive?

Can you give me the read scoop on the S model 12k and 10k residual and the MF?

Thanks,
X

PS I will put a disclaimer on my numbers in the first post. **EDIT** I can't seem to edit that post any longer...

Im assuming you want 36 month terms:

15k is 54%
12k is 56%
10k is 57%

These are for the S models--- the non S models are higher.

Guess my dealer gave me the non S numbers for my S. Sorry for the bad info..... Guess my payment is going to end up being a few $$ more.

Looks like the PA4's don't come in the 285 width; will you run 255's all around?

Getting sick of bad news on this car lol

I won't run 255s in the back. Would do one size down but that's all. Lets hope they have more sizes closer to winter I guess!

Choco,

One option is the Pirelli's. They have exact fitment if you want the staggered fitment. (Click on the winter tire tab at the top)

I will probably run the Michelins in the 255 form but probably on staggered rims (dumb, I know, can't rotate them even though the tires are square) I want the offset advantage and the look of the staggered wheels but the square tires setup is better for snow and ice with the slightly smaller rear tire width in theory helping to punch through snow better.

Does anyone know what is allowable on the AWD system? I asked the question on the PL, but didn't get any real answers.

I running square on the C63 so I can rotate, but I wonder what the allowable difference in circumference is allowed before the 4Matic goes nuts.
