2014 E63-S 4Matic vs 2013 E63 Weight
Wow, I didn't realize the new 2014 E63-S 4Matic is almost 400lbs heavier than the outgoing 2013 RWD model...4,048 lbs vs 4,431 lbs!!!

That much extra weight, combined with the parasitic power loss of the AWD system, is going to be tough to overcome in roll races against the RWD models. For the 60-130 racers, clearly the RWD version is the one to get. Glad I'm sitting in a 2013 model for the upcoming airstrip attack.

They were saying the AWD system only adds 75kg to the weight of the vehicle... that's one of the reasons they went with a fixed 66/33 system.
400lbs seems like a lot just for AWD.. somethings not right there

yeah and the new one just ran an 11.7 at 120 so if there is a huge weight difference it will be seen much later in the speed spectrum... I had the 2012 version (same as 2013) and it was fast but nowhere near 0-60 in 3.4 seconds fast.

Maybe the extra weight helps the car hook up that much better combined with the AWD? It sure is a pretty amazing 0 to 60 time. Maybe the hp numbers are even more conservative than the 2012/13 numbers were, it is rated @ 27 more HP I guess due to it's tune, but maybe it's more like 75 hp more or something will be interesting to see when these cars start hitting the dynos in stock form
