My salesman got back to me last week and said they are having delays on the carbon fiber trim for these cars. Has anyone else heard anything on this? I guess in the global order system it is showing restricted...

 

I heard the same from an AMG Academy guy... What he said... "The problem with CF is that Airbus uses A LOT of CF for the new A380 and is releasing a little quantity at a time for auto manufacturer. Also in the equation is Formula One teams working on 2014 cars... America's Cup boats also used a lot of it in the last year!"

CF wrap might be the best option!

 

I got the night package because of the delays for CF. I heard the issue was just with the CF vendor, I do not think it has any thing to do with supply of CF.

 

My car was delayed about a month but was built a few weeks ago and does include the 773 AMG exterior Carbon Fiber package. It's being shipped right now and I should have it in 2 to 3 weeks. I'll definitely take lots of pictures when I get it!

Not necessarily, he may have been told this. I was told that heated rear seats would cause a huge delay so I removed that option. However, I've since seen people who have gotten their cars with the heated rear seat option.

I've asked my dealer to double check that the 773 package was actually included on the car, and he sent me an updated build list and it's still there with a VIN, but I'm definitely a bit nervous that it will get here with no 773 package based on everyone commenting on the delays.

 

Is this the H73 Interior carbon trim? Or is 773 the exterior carbon package?

My dealer has told me that the exterior carbon is not a problem, but that the interior will not be available for 3-6 months.

Wagons I have seen that were just delivered to the US had the carbon interior, so clearly not a problem getting carbon for those. And someone on this forum recently had a car delivered with exterior carbon....

Has anyone heard any updates on this?

 

Just confirmed with my dealer that H73 will delay my build from the 2nd half of December to the first half of March. This will push my delivery from late January to April, so 2 - 2.5 months. I'm going to wait because I really didn't want to take delivery in January anyway. Now I may go with a factory delivery in late March if I can swing it.

 

I have had multiple sources confirm the delay for this option as well (interior carbon trim only). I decided to go ahead and order the car with black ash.

I also ordered the exterior carbon. Stupid $$$ but I think i looks great on white. Hope this doesn't also turn out to cause a delay...

 

I ordered the same. Polar white with carbon exterior and 5 spoke wheels with black inserts. I debated going to Iridium Silver but ended up sticking with white. Black interior with silver accents and carbon trim.

 

Were you able to get confirmation of your build with the interior carbon, or will you just wait until it is available?

Yes my planned build date moved to March 1, which the dealer says means it will be scheduled in the first 10 days of the month. It's actually okay with me. The old date was for late December. I really didn't want to take delivery in January and I was wary about workers with party hang-overs building my car during the holiday period. I'll have my GL350 to get through the Winter for this year.

I ordered the optional AMG 5 spoke wheels which have a silver or chrome look outline but black inside the spokes. At least, that's how they look to me.

 

Just got word back from the dealer that the carbon trim was released from restriction and my new build date will be the last week in January, instead of the first week in January.
