Here's a thread about a 2012 C63, I'd think it would be the same for the E63. https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...tart-mode.html
Looks like gotta be sport plus mode and traction control turned to Sport and right paddle confirmation after turning knob to RS.

I got mine into RS mode today. Oil Temp >175F. Car in Drive. Foot on brake. Steering wheel straight. TC to Sport. Rotate mode to RS. Confirm with right flappy paddle.
I was just curious. Didn't actually do a launch.

With my car if i have the right foot on the brake, it will not go into the RS but if I have left on the brake and right close to gas pedal it works right away. Seems strange like it knows which foot is where. Weird or maybe is just me!!!

Doesn't the throttle have to be floored in there somewhere as well?

I'm thinking Race start would not work for me because I drive with hand controls and the way they work is you pull them for the throttle and push for the brake. Would it be possible with race start once I get in it just to release brake real quick and pull the hand controls for full throttle or would releasing the brake like that disable the race start? The problem is I can't brake and throttle the car at the same time with this type of hand control I use, it's one or the other.

I got a chance to play around with it a little bit tonight and got it to work. The trick is in addition to all that was said is you have to hold the brake pedal down firmly, also there can be nothing directly in front of you the radar must pick that up and won't let it work, for example if you tried to engage it in you garage it's gonna say Race Start not available, see owners manual. The other thing I found is the second you release the brake if you are not on the gas it deactivates and the rear tires would then go up in smoke, so I did figure out a way to hold down the gas alone with the brake with my hand controls except the problem is I need both hands to do it so no hands on the steering wheel, although it did seem to track pretty straight so that was not a real issue since in race start the rear tires don't appear to break loose. I will be curious when I get to the 1/4 mile drag track to compare race start starts to traction controlled starts to traction control off starts and feathering the throttle off the line. From the way I understand it with a good driver (and I am that, lot's of drag racing experience) you can get the best possible starts with no traction control and trying to manually control real wheel spin through proper throttle control.
