So whats faster?
Ok so the question is what's faster a tuned 2012, 2013 E63 or a tuned 2014 E63S, I've seen rwd E63's put down some awesome times but haven't seen the tuned E63S's put down numbers to at least match. Anyone have any dyno #'s on a tuned 2014 E63?

Reason for thread is my lease is up and I'm not certain if I should get another E63, I love mine and don't like what I've been hearing and seeing about the 2014. I love smoking my tires in this cold weather in any gear pretty much in mg 2012 I think I'll cry if I get the new one and can't do that

And for a contrarian view, I recently sold my 02 Z06 with a Lingenfelter 427 twin turbo that was making 830 hp and 855 tq at the crank. The car had 335 tires on the back but had no traction below 80 mph. After 10 years it had become frustrating to try and drive quickly and the 2014 E63 with the AWD is the exact reason I have one on order. Wheel spin gets old after awhile and AWD gets the power to the ground much better. To each his own I guess.

Crazy you said that cause I just sold my 800awhp GTR which spun all 4 tires easily but still can put the power down to the ground.
But which is faster let's say roll race rwd E63 or Awd E63 both tuned or not tuned? Anyone in NY area have a tuned 14 that wants to try this out against my 2012? I still have this car for few more months

I gotta believe that the 4Matic is going to be faster off the line. I think I've seen reviews where they don't have a problem smoking the tires as well if they really try.

Patric - same experience here - had a Heffner tt Viper making 1000hp on 91 octane: Even with 335's and graduated boost with the AIM system, could not go full throttle at less than 80-90mph without wheelspin. Car was not that enjoyable to drive. I'm sure my E63 would destroy it up to 100mph.

Yeah, the tt Viper was the car to give a 1000cc superbike a suprise from an 80mph roll.....
Obviously, that scenario does not play out very often. E63s 4matic has gobs of usable power and is fun and fairly safe by comparison. When I had the Viper, I also had an RS6. 19 days out of 20 I would drive the RS6. E63s is far superior to the RS6. It is the ultimate all around car for me. If I had infinite money and garage space, I would have kept the Viper as the ultimate "big stick" car, but that is not the case!

Jim,
This is just pure speculation given the little knowledge I have in motorsport, however, I would say the 12'-13' would be faster than the current 14's from a roll. A dig, obviously the 14's are superior. I attribute this to the added weight of the current 14's due to the AWD, the added power to the wheel transmission loss due to the AWD and the fact we are having torque limitation on the AWD. I have driven both and feel the non-AWD pull harder at speed, marginally.
I think if you are looking for something to smoke the tires in, this car is not for you. I have turned TC completely off and mashed the throttle, with no drama whatsoever. It is obvious the computer is hindering power even with TC off.
What are your thoughts on the new M5? or M6 Gran Coupe? I would think these cars might give you the tire smoking you desire.
Again, my thoughts only, caveat emptor

This is why I'll miss my 2012 E63, it's a perfect power plant and incredibly fast. As for picking up and M5 or M6 I think there beautiful and fast cars but the fact that I easily pull on them now makes me not want to even consider them. I've put 2 lengths on my buddies Tuned F10 M5 and he got the jump. We did a 65mph roll to about 150ish I gradually pulled on him and the longer the run the more lengths I would gain.
Crazy I gotta give this crap up and buy a pickup truck cause I take this crap way to serious and it's pointless, there's always somebody faster, but it's real awesome to smoke Ferraris and lambos, vettes etc with my 4dr sedan lol

If you like the car so much why give it up? I'm sure you could work out another deal to keep it. If you're going to trade up you should be excited and have your sights set on something, not do so just because the clock runs out on your current ride. With the '14s being out and most buyers preferring AWD I bet you could get a great deal on a '12 or '13.

Renntech ran a new E63S with a tune and got 11.6 in quarter mile.
A RWD gets down to 11.4. Adrian here with a CLS got 11.5 in his CLS.
The AWD is obviously robbing power up top as the 0-60 time is unbelievable in the new E. It is easily .4 seconds faster.
I just came back from advanced AMG driving school in Laguna Seca and the new E is simply unbelievable on the track. Very much like a four door GTR but still with the V8 AMG roar. It has so much grip that it makes you feel invincible. Reinhold was there and I did discuss this with him in depth. He says you still can drift the new E but it is obviously harder. If the track is not 100% dry, he stated that it is the fastest car by far (versus CBS, or any SLS): WOW.
It really depends what you are looking for. If burnouts and straight line speed is your priority, then the 2WD is the one. If 0-60 and higher grip is higher on your list, then the new E will be your favorite new toy.
I must admit I love doing highway pulls, 1/4 mile and mile runs and I did decide for the 2WD CLS but my next car will most probably be AWD.

I know this car has a tune, but which one? Renntech told me they have a E63s car going 11.1 in the NE, so I assume they are referring to this one.
I'm just disappointed, I really had high hopes for this car. I assumed a tuned AWD would be in the high 10's easy. So far, this is the fastest one out there and its still significantly behind the RWD versions. Come on tuners, get this car faster!!!

No LSD? I was told that all "S" models come with the LSD as standard in the U.S.

I made a typo.... it's a non S Model ('14 base E63), which offers the diff as an option.
