E63s or CLS63s?
Im not sure what to purchase as my next Mercedes, coming from a 2012 E63 modded, do I go back into the E or try the CLS out? Any input would be appreciated.
Which is faster? Modded or stock
Which is more sportier?
Which leases better?
Which do you think is better looking?

Faster: No difference. Same engine, nearly same weight. Same modding potential
Sportier: CLS "looks" sportier. Handling is likely very similar due to similar suspension setup. Traditional in front, air in rear.
Lease: E has better residual value typically than the CLS from what I remember and it is less expensive with the same options.
Better looking: That is up to you. I really like the looks of the CLS, but the face lifted front of the E looks great in my opinion.
Also, E is way more practical if you have the need. bench in the back to fit 3 if necessary or put car seat in the middle. More rear head room. Larger trunk. Stealthier than the CLS too
Either are great cars. New face lift for CLS in 2015...

What he said^^ is right on target. I just picked up a CLS63-S mostly due to the looks (I love the E as well) but I will tell you, my friends who are 6' and over have complained about ingress and egress. I also lost the ability to carry a third person in the back seat, which I did not think would be an issue, but have needed that spot twice since I picked up the car a few weeks ago Figures.
I have driven both and feel (maybe psychological) that the CLS feels sportier and gets more attention.
Ultimately, if I were you I would just grab the first one I get a great deal on, you cain't go wrong.

I picked the CLS due to its looks and exclusivity.
The E is just too common and everywhere.
However a facelift is due soon so it's a toss up. I do not like the way all the MBs look alike and it appears that the new CLS will have the look of its bigger brother up front (S Class) but that is a personal preference.
Get it in matte. It's awesome.
CED357 is right. If you can't make up your mind, get the one that is the better deal.

not sounding bias, i had the chance to get a cls S
1. stiffer rougher ride
2. didnt want to get into another cls, love the sedan feel
3. CLS63 S will drop heavily in value once these facelifted CLS's come out
i personally love the lines of the new E with the facelift, and surprisingly the quality of materials in the E is better, you dont get any leather in the CLS dash.

Coming from a Panamera I decided to go with the E. I don't enjoy all the looks…I prefer flying under the radar.
I also don't like the rear tail lights on the CLS…looks like…ummm…never mind.

yeah i agree, from a visual stand point i like it, but i think the 2014 E looks better IMO. The E is a great car, and they are basically the same car, ive driven both. The only thing that was a deal buster for the cls was no leather on the dash, and i needed a car with the 5th seat. The E63 will retain its value vs a 2014 CLS63! you could wait for the facelift but im sure that will have a price bump with the added features.

My CLS has fully leather on top dash and below, maybe cuase its fully designo, but I love it.
so maybe it depends on what options are on the car, regardless, you can find C63s more luxuries inside than E63s, depends on what you ask for really.

yeah that would be if you have designo, the couple that ive seen dont, and they dont have the leather, where its standard on the E63 14, i dont get why MB charges more for the CLS, no leather, less for the E, designo leather standard on dash. doesnt make sense to me.

Porsche 911 Turbo S 2014! E63S 14, Audi S8 13, CLS63 12, E550 12, C63 09, all tuned
The E63 is stealth, 5 passenger car. Most people do not notice if it is a E350 or E63. I am driving my E63 stock with Renntech tune only.
CLS 63 is more rare, looks and does drive more sporty. Mods look better on this car, hence my CLS 63 is Heavily modified. People notice it, or I guess hear it.

I can give you some good insight on this as I stare at the exact same color combo and optioned CLS63S every day as my E63S. My business partner has a CLS63S. It really depends on you. I will give you some good feedback and things to consider:
1. How tall are you? If you are over 5'10 get an E. I cant stand getting in and out of his car, front or the back. Once I am in it, I am good.
2. Do you put people in the back seat? If so, you should get an E.
3. Looks. This is all up to you. Personally I like both, there are some angles of the CLS I just dont like, whereas with the E I like all of the angles. That is my personal opinion.
4. Someone commented about Es being "everywhere", well I hate to say it but I have seen a million CLAs all over the place, and quite honestly, it looks just like a CLS from afar. I dont care what others think, but if you do, you may want to consider that one.
All of the newer MBs are really starting to look similar, especially from the front. To be honest, the E63 is the only one I can tell from a mile away while looking at the front of the car that its a 63 and not a 350 because of the obvious facelift and massive front bumper. I think that is what everyone likes the most about the car.
You cant go wrong with either one, they are both great.

I dont know if its different in 2014, but my E came in 2012 with all the options short the CC brakes. While it *looks* like the dash and all the door parts are stitched leather, I'm convinced that some of it isnt actually leather. Its rather plastic-y on the dash. The SLS I get to spend a lot of time in has a different texture to it... its more obviously leather through-out.
That said, every day I stuff people, kids, dogs, and stuff in my wagon. That SLS leather might start looking worse after a few years.
It sounds like the E is meant for deluxe functionality first, appearance second... while the CLS is deluxe appearance, functionality second.
